Xiaomi’s Mi 4i is among the more promising mid-range phones out there, and it has now been confirmed that the phone will make it to the Malaysian markets.
The Mi 4i comes with the second generation Snapdragon 615 octa-core 64-bit chipset, and has 2GB of RAM to boot. In its price range, the Mi 4i is touted to be among the best phones; with my limited use of the device, I can certainly say it is quite good.
The phone was launched in New Delhi last month at an event which happened to be Xiaomi’s first ever international spectacle. In Malaysia, Xiaomi’s head of product, Donovan Sung along with others is scheduled to take centrestage on May 21 for a special media preview of the phone.
Gizchina News of the week
It might be among the lesser expensive Xiaomi phones, but the Mi 4i surprisingly packs the largest battery Xiaomi has ever shipped. You can find out more about the specifications of the device here, or read our unboxing and hands on article here.
There’s no word on exactly how much the Mi 4i will go for in Malaysia, but considering the prices in other markets, the phone should retail for around RM750.
Fatal flaw in Xiaomi Mi 4i….lack of expandable memory..why does Xiaomi want to cripple its own products..what is the agenda ?
Xiaomi and Meizu want to be the Apple of China so bad that they can’t even see how counter productive this sort of behavior will be in the long run. It will only open doors to even more competition like Elephone, Mlias, Gionee, Ulefone, iOcean and Asus.
This is what happen when Asian companies adapt a European businesses model. Sony’s slow implosion of the past 10yrs should be a case study for all Asian corporations.
Meizu offer all models in 32gb apart from the M1 Mini which has expandable memory. Xiaomis redmi line also has expandable memory. What else do you want? I do think it was a mistake from xiaomi not releasing a 32gb model but they may still do it. A lot of devices from big names manufacturers only use internal unexpandable memory not just apple. Xiaomi also have bigger issues, namely overheating of their devices and how bloated and ram heavy MIUI has become.
If they would put in it Micro SD slot, 16GB Mi4 would look bad.
Mi4 doesn’t have Micro SD because 64GB version has higher profit margin.
A “fatal” flaw would suggest a flaw that would lead the product or service to not achieve success or desired results.
The first batch sold out did it not? People are lining up (online) to buy it, right? Sounds like a success to me.
It’s got it’s pros and cons but no “fatal” flaws. It’s not like they’re being delivered DOA to customers.
While it lacks an SD card it is not impossible to expand the storage. The Cloud is one option if you live in a country where data isn’t terribly expensive, or where there is an abundance of free wifi. Another option is OTG, which is what I use with the Mi4.
