With rumours that Meizu are to launch the M2 Note and MX5 in June are customers still willing to buy current Meizu phones even at knock-down prices?
If we take all the rumours about Meizu as true that we have seen over the past few days then we come to the following conclusions:
- Meizu have stopped making the MX4 Pro due to a Mediatek deal.
- Meizu have been sued by Nubia over the design of the MX4 and MX3.
- Meizu will launch the Meilan M2 Note on 2nd June with physical home button.
- The Meizu MX5 will launch on 30th June.
With all these details racking up and official launch invitations already sent out to Chinese press and media Meizu fans and owners of current phones have a lot to think about.
But what about potential customers? Are they willing to buy phones that could be outdated or out of production in just a few weeks? Meizu hope yes, and have dropped pricing to lure customers over.
The official retail price of the MX4 now starts at just 1499 Yuan in China, with a 32GB model costing 1699 Yuan, where as the basic Meizu MX4 Pro is not on sale for just 1999 Yuan. The MX4 Pro is a deal at price and those specs (2k display, 3GB RAM etc) but will Meizu continue to support the Samsung powered phone with Mediatek now being a key investor?
There is a lot to think about here. While Meizu do have exciting announcements for June, they also risk alienating current Meizu MX4, Pro and Meilan owners!
Mmm… the question is: how difficult could it be to install Ubuntu Touch in the 32GB MX4? 😉

i think that everything about not support their phones cause of samsung soc and mtk investment is a joke…seriously, they are going to update mx2 to lolipop…there is no fear for updates from meizu for the next 2+ years
Yeah, no fear about premature and buggy Flyme os updates with the battery drain. It is guarantee ?
Can you list all bugs of flyme os? I have mx4 for some time now, but I didn’t mention any bugs or batttery drains…
I have LG G3 and as a second handset I used MX4-Pro International rom. MX-pro is not a cheap phone. It’s battery performance made me crazy. G3 beats it because of optimization. Then i sold MX4-pro. I needed a cheap phone. So, i bought 2 * M1 Note for me and my asistant.
Let me list fastly bugs in my mind,
1-) E-maill app does not work properly with wifi connection.
2-) Delay for Whatsupp messaging with wifi connetcion.
3-) Self-shutdown for Internet browser. No error message.
4-) After two months, they started to freeze. I think battery mods make it. They do not freeze on high-performance mode.
5-) Auto brightness does not work properly.
6-) 3G-2G connections drops.
7-) Translation has bugs. Especially when you choose Turkish Language in A rom.
😎 Project Screen freezing.
9-) They are laggy. Just go developer mode select “Show touch opera..” then scratch screen fast, point follows your finger. See the lag!
10-) E-mail notification bar problem. I chosee “read” option, but nothing appairs. This action just removes notification.
dude you say it like meizu has the shitiest phones out there. I live in europe and if i can buy MX4 pro for 320$ i will do it immediately. For that price you just can’t complain.
but many didn’t had those problems you faced(except battery drainage which had been fixed in version ???,{I forgot but search to find}….you could have flashed again their roms or waited for update…
anyway…………..
I bought 2 MX pro’s for me and my brother about 4 months now and still havent seen any bugs and im a hardcore user, mostly games and social media apps. I havent seen any battery drain and i love the Flyme OS.
I have M1 note. I am facing Wi-Fi problem on email and other apps too. Phone is useless if you are planing to use it for business (with Wi-Fi connection). In addition, battery and charging time performance are not impressive. I think Meizu team need to focus on Android optimizations, updates and Flyme Os maturity. I really believe that Meizu can beat Samsung, HTC, LG and other Android manufacturers if can build better quality software.
Never faced problems you mentioned. As I said earlier, I haven’t mentioned any bugs or battery drains. I can say, that mx4 is the best phone I’ve ever had. And I love how flyme works and looks. I was choosing between mx4 and mi4, and have chosen mx4 because of flyme. Miui reminds me lenovo vibe ui, that I hated a lot.
But i faced. You are Meuzi fan, I am just an user. Today Meizu released a new update. I hope some of my problems can be resolved.
I’m not a fan, I’m user too. I’ve had a lot of various phones from different brands (nokia, sony, htc, samsung, apple, huawei, lenovo), but non of them I liked as much as I now like meizu (htc also was a very good phone with well made UI). So if you faced problems with your phone, it doesn’t matter that all phones of that manufacturer have those problems…maybe you’ve got defective phone.

Indeed. Up till now Meizu have done a great job in supplying support for older models.
