Universal edition JiaYu F2 gets FDD-LTE and Spreadtrum CPU for only 299 Yuan

JiaYu have announced a Universal Edition of the low-cost JiaYu F2 boasting WCDMA and FDD-LTE support for only 299 Yuan!

JiaYu have been watching the Xiaomi threat close in on their low-cost LTE range, and now that the 599 Yuan Xiaomi Redmi 2A is on sale in China, JiaYu have retaliated with the announcement of a 299 Yuan phone.

JiaYu call their new phone the Universal Edition JiaYu F2. Universal as it covers TD-LTE, FDD-LTE, WCDMA, TD-SCDMA and GSM networks, and a special Edition due to the new low-cost specification chosen to cut the retail cost.

The F2 Universal Edition swaps out the old Meditek MT6582 processor and LTE modem for a Spreadtrum SC9830 CPU. This isn’t a common processor, but it boasts native LTE, runs 4 x 1.5Ghz Cortex A7 cores and has an ARM Mali MP2 GPU. Not the most powerful chip in the world but good enough to keep you connected, the phone fast, and JiaYu promise there is enough grunt for gaming too.

Other cost cutting measures include the 512mb RAM, 2 mega-pixel main camera, 4GB internal memory and 5-inch FWVGA display. The phone retains Bluetooth, WIFI, GPS, dual sim and SD support.

To attract younger customers the new F2 will come in white, black, pink and blue. Stock is already heading to Chinese stores now, and resellers are expecting to receive the phone shortly.

    I think its going to be another “4”, Fallout 4. Fan’s keep desperately waiting for any news at all regarding it and the company just sits back and laughs. Everyonce in a while they announce plans for a “big” announcement and people foolishly believe it is about the 4. The company never shoots down the rumors and people end up disappointed in the end.

  With 512 ram it will last max 1 month. I have a jiayu f1 and g4c, the screen on f1 is unusable, I have asked for replacement. The g4c is totally another story.

48$ phone is 60$ reseller price. but so many corners cut. Resolution, 512mb ram. You can buy nice phones for 70$ international, like infocus m2 with snap400, 1/8GB and 720p screen. You cant fool a kid

The CPU is not bad, actually the GPU is MP4 version, a bit faster than the one in the 6582, but the 512MB ram is really bogus. Should put 1GB in there and increase cost by 5$.
Still knowing that Jiayu;s build quality is excellent you might consider this phone for kids between 7-10 and elders.

really, they could have spent those 2-3 dollars more and give a full gb of ram and give a sense to this device, rather than leaving it senseless as it is.

What is the point of this one? Jiayu want to sell the F2 and make it good as the S3? Just put a decent package of specs on it. I would say what everyone would want on this device:
The MT6732 or MT6735, 2GB of Ram, 16GB of Storage, HD resolution on a 4.7″ screen, making this not only a cheap device, but with decent specs and for people who wants a smaller size phone, and a big battery. They almost made this with the original F2, but the old CPU is a big mistake. And at end a 100~120 price, as Jiayu F2 is being sold. Maybe someone would say “more cheaper” but this price is fine, and when you saw the competition phones on the same price range you know that Jiayu has good quality.

About the only appealing thing you can say about this phone is it is cheap. I realize it’s meant as a “kid’s” phone, but how young are we talking? Most younger kids I know who want a smart phone, want it to watch videos, download music or play games one. This will barely be able to do any of that. I think we can all agree resellers will have this for around $70-80. I found the following phones with much better kit for not much more money:
1. Elephone G9 – MT6735, 1GB RAM, 8mp rear – $84.99
2. Ulefone Be X – MT6592M, 1GB, 8mp – $79.99
3. Motorola Moto G – one of the best budget phones last year $79 on Amazon.

  I got the Ulegone Be X for my daughter; a solid phone, heavy (gives it a solid feel). She drops it daily and no damage yet, although lacking gorilla glass, it’s just a matter of time. Call quality is sub-par though.

One downside. It will be pretty much impossible to root. 512mb of RAM really is not that bad if it is used correctly. The price could have been less if they used a 4.5 inch screen. Shame Jiayu. Dual Sim is a pro. Wish the LTE was Penta-band though. If they had a 4.5 inch screen, they would be able to put a 5 megapixel camera at least.

If this had android 5, which is geared for 512 mb, shit would be perfect.
I have F1 and only complaints are mobile data too slow, and multitasking being slow.
How is the camera on this motherfucker?
