Gionee Elife E8 shows off a gold chassis in new renders

gionee elife e8 render

Gionee’s iconic Elife range will get a new addition later this year as the flagship Elife E8 goes on sale complete with gold chassis option.

Gionee’s flagship range has been around for a few years now with the most recent models being the Mediatek powered Elife E6 then the Snapdragon packed Elife E7.

Later this year Gionee will launch the Elife E8, seen in Tenaa leaks already, and with it a move back to Taiwanese chip maker Mediatek. Details of the E8 have emerged to induce 3GB RAM, 6-inch 2K display and a camera capable of taking up to 100 mega-pixel photos! A true flagship hardware package!

Earlier Tenaa leaks also showed us a rough idea of the general design of the Gionee Elife E8 with a rear mounted fingerprint scanner, but new renders give us a better idea of the sleek metal chassis the phone will be built on.

A good look at the render also shows what appear to be 3 physical buttons on the right of the device. The upper button most likely being the volume rocker, followed by the power button and finally a physical shutter button.

Of all the phones that are set to launch, the Gionee Elife E8 is the one which sits at the top of my waiting list!

I wish they would hurry up and release this as my phone was involved in a freak accident yesterday and I no longer have a usable phone! Waiting on this and the very elusive Vivo xplay 5s before deciding what to go for. Is this still due to be released on 20th of June, or just announced and release later???

Why don’t you pick up an elephone? They have plenty of annual flagships to choose from.

Because it needs to be 6″ and all their phones are 5.5″ or less. Been using a 6.5″ all year so anything 5.5 or less feels like a toy! Hope this has good audio as Gionee always seem to neglect it.

They might release a 6″ device next week. Who knows?:)
Wow, I just realized I don’t know any 6″ phone other than the nexus 6.

The lenovo k920 is on special at gearbest for $343 and the xplay 3s is only about $330 now.

It’s only around $220 on Aliexpress at the moment and with the good exchange rate for sterling makes it a great buy. The problem is the reviews are bad and the camera is even worse, otherwise at the price its dropped to it would’ve made a compelling buy. I will have to try surviving without a phone for a while longer (really hard to do)!

TCL is starting to release some really good devices.

        May 22, 2015

They’ve had really good devices for quite a while now, just that the designs are really generic and boring.

I loved the design of the Idol X and the Hero (just not a fan of 6 inch phones) but other than those the rest were very generic and bland looking.

Classy design with good hardware form a trusted company… but 6-inches? C’mon.

The E series has typically been larger screen phones. The E6 was 5 inches (at a time when that was big), the E7 was 5.5 inches it only makes sense the E8 would be 6. But they usually release a mini version of the E series as well, it often doesn’t match the specs but it’s still a decent phone.

        May 22, 2015

Yes, hopefully a mini version coming later this year, around 5.2-5.5 inches. E7 mini was quite far from the E7 with it’s rotating camera design, MTK6592 and 1GB RAM.

          May 23, 2015

Yea usually the only thing they share is the name “E7”, the phones are usually entirely different.

can’t agree anymore..doesnt seems waiting for a true flagship from vivo ends to anywhere…

      • Rob
        May 22, 2015

I think vivo has forgotten they need to update the xplay! Seriously though they always use Qualcomm chips and I think they are having heat issues with the sd810 especially since they like thin phones. Who knows maybe they will use the Samsung chip from the S6.

          May 23, 2015

if they really need to bring the latest technology in xplay series,I think by the end of year,if they could implant SD818 with 25MP &4gb ram, that would be beast…of course the price will be beast if vivo is going to hande the job

            May 23, 2015

If they are gonna wait till the end of the year then there’s no point using the sd810 since they might as well go straight to the sd820. Late last night I found some new teasers on a Chinese tech site for the xplay 5s so I think it’s announcement is imminent!
