Two delivery men and 3 packages just arrived and while it is a little late in the day to make full hands on here are some early sneak photos of the Mlais M4, Meizu m1 note and Landvo S6.
3 more phones have been added to the GizChina office fleet this afternoon, I’ll be making unboxing and hands on videos of each tomorrow, but to keep you in the know here are a couple of photos and early impressions of the 3 new devices.
Mlais M4 Note
We already have an Mlais M4 Note review in the making, but this the first time I have personally come face to face with the 5.5-inch M4 Note. For those of you who aren’t too familiar with the phone here are a few of the details.
The Mlias M4 Note’s major selling point are it’s metal frame, 2.5D display, LTE support and Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box. The phone also comes with 2GB RAM, quad-core MT6732 processor and 13 mega-pixel main camera, and 8 mega-pixel front.
As with each of these phones I’ve simply taken the M4 out of the box and switched it on but a few details have stuck in mind. Lollipop seems quite nippy, but I’ll need to test further. The camera flash is brighter than I expected, and the metal frame has a white finish rather than a polished one. I also noticed on my version of the phone that the metal frame of the phone sits a little higher than the display, an odd decision considering the 5.5-inch screen is a curved 2.5D item.

Meizu m1 note
Gizchina News of the week
This is the Chinese version of the m1 note and according to the specifications is a TD-LTE phone, however we haven been assured by Flosmall that this phone will work on our network. The Meizu m1 note is a unibody plastic phone, and it looks more like the Meizu MX3 of last year than the current MX4 and MX4 Pro. Although it is plasitc I have to say that I really do prefer the look, finish and feel of the plastic phone over its more expensive brothers.
Specifications for the M1 note include a 13 mega-pixel main camera, dual SIM support (a first for Meizu), MT6752 octacore processor, LTE, and 2GB RAM. Like other Meizu phones the m1 note comes with Flyme OS which seems to work on the Mediatek chip pretty well.

Landvo S6
Last and very much the least anticipated of the 3 phones is the Landvo S6. This knock off phone looks the spitting image of the Samsung Galaxy S6, but made to a lower standard, using lower quality materials and low-end hardware.
Upon opening the box the Landvo S6 does look surprisingly good, but that all fades away when you get it in your hand. Sure the chassis is alloy, but that rear plastic panel is simply stuck in place with dual sided tape and is rather poorly fitting.
The Landvo also features a fake Touchwhizz ROM but I’ve not been able to play with it much as the battery was flat when the phone arrived.

So those are just 3 of the phones you can expect to hear more about this week, keep posted for the usual Chinese phone news throughout the week and more reviews.
Funny that all 3 have a button keeping the bezel nice and thick.
Looking forward to hearing about the first two as they both sound like good devices, the last one not so much.
Now you’re caught. I’ve found your comment about the Landvo S6 from two weeks ago:
High Side Light Metal border! 111 minutes to polish! Full Bonded Technology! I can barely contain my excitement!!!!!
Sorry, I was meant to be sarcastic but it seems like it didn’t came trough.
People are obsessed with bezels, almost every thread some one has to comment about the bezel, like you all came from a time and place where bezels didnt exist and your phones were just amoled screens and nothing else
Bezels would not be such a big issue if every phone was not a 5.5″ behemoth. Bezels are not much of an issue once you are at 5″ or smaller.
Personally I could care less about bezels, in fact I am not a fan of the bezeless designs I think they are hideous. It is one of the last things I look at when deciding on a new phone.
You know why?
Because phone nowadays has big displays and they are not easy to carry and handle, there is a lot of space waste, so that’s why we want smaller bezels (but not too small).
you seem to act like people are forcing big displays on you, there are great specs available at almost every single screen size
4.7
5.0
5.1
5.5
If you want a bigger screen which is what you seem to be saying then You need to accept that the bezel with be included
Aesthetics cant play any part in a phone screen especially when we are dealing with chinese OEM
for me personally Bezels dont even matter when I am choosing a phone to buy
Phones today are generally big, I don’t want anything over 4,7 inches. And I want slaller bezels so that 4,7 phone can fit nicely in my pocket.
Have you tried any 5 inch phones? The differences between some 4.7 and 5.0 inch models are a few mm’s. For instance:
Xiaomi Redmi 2: 134 x 67.2 x 9.4 mm
Xiaomi Mi4: 139.2 x 68.5 x 8.9mm
Either of those would fit almost the same in your pocket, the difference between the two is 5.2 mm or .2 inches.
Yes, I tried. I had many 5 inches phones, even Cubot S222 which is 5.5 inches. 😀 But I think you are right, 5 is not big enough. Althouh 4.7 with really small bezels (like Jiayu S4) would be the best.
Andi please report how the 111 minute polished metal border looks like on the Landvo S6. According to Landvo they’ve used “Full Bonded Technology” on the S6 so it shouldn’t fall apart.
I figured out the Full Bonded Technology, it all lies in this line:
“but that rear plastic panel is simply stuck in place with dual sided tape”
I nearly spit my drink out when reading this, I have heard of cheap phone construction but dual sided tape takes the cake.
That’s why they’ve included “heartbeat test”, you will need it when you realize your phone was held together by a double sided tape.
