Ecoo Aurora E04 shows off CM12.1 in new video

cyanogenmod-12-1-rom

It has been a little quiet on the Ecoo front since the launch of the 3GB RAM E04, but the company have been busy working on new projects like CM12.1 for their phones!

Ecoo announced yesterday that they were working on a CM12.1 Beta for the E04, and today have posted a video of the phone running an early development version of the ROM. CM12.1 is a CyanogenMod ROM based on Android Lollipop 5.1, the same system which is available for the OnePlus One and has also been ported to some Elephone devices.

As for when the final build will be available for Ecoo owners to download we are not to sure yet, but I am sure most fans will be happy to wait for a stable release rather than a buggy first attempt. We will keep our eye on the Ecoo Facebook for more news.

I tried it out on my Nexus 7 and it was kind of plain and boring to me, technically it is very capable and resourceful ROM but I just don’t like the looks and feel of it.

One of the first MediaTek devices to ever receive a CM12 update O_O. I hope they bring this to the 2GB version as well, shouldn’t be too much of a hassle right? Same hardware and all. I am sometimes wondering who is making all these ROM’s. This CM12 project is clearly from the own Ecoo devs but what about the FlymeOS, the ColorOS, JiayuOS and..that other one. Those are all ROMs not really functional for daily use. I don’t get it :p

But, back to CM12. Holy cheese cake, that would totally be awesome if they get it to work properly 🙂 They already have the beta uploaded to their official download page: do not install! It’s not really working 😉

But, good news for us Ecoo users!

If they successfully port this to the ecoo, then many other phones with mediatek processors should also be easier? I can’t wait to receive mine! Got a blue one on order. The black bezels are less visible :p How are you finding it?

I’m using Spacerom that was done by an Italian dev. It seems great. Everything works and is rooted out of the box.

Yeah, the SpaceROM seems to be the best choice for now. I just can’t get it to work on my 2GB-version.

those black bars though, I almost puked… even worse on the Elephone p7000

Uh, what? Have you been to specsavers recently? The elephone has THE worst black bars on any Chinese phone at the moment. These are hardly even noticeable on the black/blue variant of the ecoo!

my eyes are fine because the ecoo in this one is white, I said even worse on the Elephone which means I think they are the worse, I’m not buying some bs phone with fake bezels, all the ad renders show perfect screen without black bars

          May 28, 2015

Maybe it’s me who needs specsavers. Sorry! :p I agree I hate all this fake black bezel bs. I still have one on order though. Check out the mijue t500 on gearbest. Hopefully that won’t have those awful borders!

np bro, the blue one look a lot better! the mijue t500 looks good!, although I’m pretty sceptical about the bezels, if only phone manufacturers would just make the ‘real’ bezels bigger…

The rom is buggy as hell right now. They fixed the google play force close issue but the wifi and data is still a crapshoot. At least they are trying. 5.0 is nice though.

Nice. It covers the fact, that a official Lollipop release for the phone is missing.
