Its one of the most anticipated and long-awaited Chinese Android smartphones but now it is finally here. Sit back and watch our first Elephone P7000 Pioneer unboxing and hands on!
The Elephone P7000 Pioneer is a phone that we first heard about back in December, and even now 6 months on people are still excited about the phone. With flash sales of the flagship completed Elephone have started to ship out white versions of the P7000 and we have been fortunate enough to receive our sample before the weekend.
A solid specification line up has been key to keeping the Elephone P7000 in the public eye. Boasting a 5.5-inch FHD display, 3GB RAM, MT6752 processor, LTE, dual SIM, SD card, 3450mAh battery, Android 5.0, Sony IMX214 camera and fingerprint scanner, the P7000 meets all the “must have” specs for a Mediatek flagship phone.
The excitement around the Elephone P7000 has been so strong that we jumped at the Pioneer when it arrived at the office today along with the LeTV S1, which remains in its box still!

Elephone P7000 Pioneer first impressions
So far we have only spent a few hours with the Elephone P7000 Pioneer, this isn’t enough time to give you a full review and give you the full low down, but it is enough time to mention any issues that jump out right from the start.
The good news is the Elephone P7000 has everything it promised to have and is running well so far. Android 5.0 Lollipop on the P7000 runs well so far but only time will tell if there are any hidden bugs lurking in there. The Sony IMX214 13 mega-pixel camera is a surprise! Elephone seem to have optimised it well for good performance out of the box, and we hope this will continue with updates. The fingerprint scanner is also fast and reliable.
It is also great to see the Elephone P700o come with a laminated glass screen protector and a flip cover. Very nice details.
There are a few design touches we don’t really like. The black border around the screen is a bit of a turn off, and the device is a big chunkier than some other phones, but I feel I can life with that as long as the P7000 continues to perform the way it is now.
A full review will be written as soon as possible, but please be patient as a lot of phones have arrived this week.
If you have any questions about the Elephone P7000 that weren’t answered in our hands on video or above please feel free to ask them in the comments below and I will try to answer them.

Excellent! Glad to see the camera is running well straight out of the box. I have a black version ordered so still have chance to change it to a Ulefone Be Touch if the p7000 turns out to be a dud.
Thanks for this Andi, looking forward to a full review!
You won’t believe how many times I’ve had to refresh this page for the past 3 days. And finally..IT IS HERE! Now breathe….
Its reading time. -)
Hi
Elephone P7000 do support dual sim
(Standard Sim Card + Sim Card)
Which one of these two sim slots supports LTE?
Thanks
You can switch main data simcard (3g+LTE) by software, so it doesn’t matter which slot you choose.
i would be so glad if you could do a smaller review in one or two days. of course you cant know for sure if there are any smaller hidden problems but i want to order as soon as possible and that would help me alot! 🙂
Looking good apart from those horrible black bars. Nice to see Chinese phones finally starting to ship with lollipop straight out of the box just as Google have been showing off android M!!! lol
I know, my wife’s phone (until its replacement yesterday) still runs it. Seen some cheap phones still for sale running Gingerbread!
Jelly Bean was actually my favorite version of Android. The version of Android doesn’t bother me as much as having a stable working version of Android. I have used some devices that have had the newest version of Android and it was a buggy mess that was never fixed.
You know that I agree with you on this, but my point is another.
Chinese companies have shown that they can compete with the big brands speaking of build quality and for cheaper. They are behind if we speak of software. There might be few exceptions but the rule is that most of their software sucks.
So my question is: “why don’t they just release the documentation and let the community work on it?”
I often hear, I would not but that brand… I would not but that brand again.. Because of buggy ROM.
A better solution is for a lot of these companies just to stop trying with their own UI’s and either ship with stock Android or use one of the really good UI’s that already exist.
It’s odd. In the video they look terrible, but in use you don’t really notice them (or at least I don’t)
The best design aspect of the P7000 is definitely the box . I would be tempted to throw away the 1980’s designed P7000 with it gorgeous big painted black borders and put the box on display somewhere prominent.
The only thing missing on this porky beast is a mullet.
