Rumour: ZTE preparing a successor to the Nubia X6 phablet?

nubia z8 leaked

Cast your mind back to early last year and you may remember that ZTE’s Nubia brand released the monstrous 6.44-inch Nubia X6. Rumours today are that Nubia are about to replace the phablet with a smaller successor.

The Nubia X6 might not have been the sell out success the Z5 and Z7 were, but the phablet did offer some neat features from a large batter, good amount of RAM, 2K display and powerful Snapdragon 801 chipset. The phone’s size may have been the reason for smaller sales, which might explain why this rumoured replacement has just a 5.5-inch display.

Gizchina News of the week

Specs leaked show partial details and a render of the Nubia X8 with the most notable features being a borderless design, very large 5120mAh battery and shockingly slim 7.9mm body. The details also tell us the phone will have 4GB RAM, either 32 or 64GB internal memory, and overall dimensions of 163 x 75 x 7.9mm at a weight of 201g.

Looking at previous Nubia phones it seems likely the Nubia X8 (if genuine) will get a Qualcomm chipset, Nubia ROM based on Android 5.0 or higher and also get decent camera specifications. Keep your eyes on the news for more details.

Interesting, especially if it looks anything like that!
Wonder when Gizchina will get their hands on the Nubia Z9, waiting for the review!

I am also wondering. I don’t know why Nubia phones are so hard to get for review. Xioami no problem, Meizu no problem, LeTV no problem but Nubia is a nightmare.

It’s because non-Asian buyers are not their target market I assume ?

Then, why all the international fuzz and be present at the MWC in Barcelona, I know that ZTE was here this year.

I remember a last year post titled: “that’s why we can’t wait to review the Nubia z7 mini”
        And it actually never happened.

They probably know that people here trust your reviews and you might be a little too critical. 🙂

i LIKE that “you might be a little too critical” part.
THIS beautifully BRUTAL criterion , set by the Trusty GizChina mods , will hopefully help me find the CHEAPEST phone with the BEST CAM EVER !

I wonder if the real thing will have black borders all around the screen, they always seem to photoshop them out of renders. Looks good apart from that, shame they’ve turned it into yet another 5.5″ phone in this already over crowded space.

There’s something wrong. The width is the same as the Gionee E7 and a lot longer, so if it’s bezelles, it should be a lot smaller. If the dimensions are correct than it’s more likely 5.7″ or 6″.

Surely it should be bigger than the E8 since its longer and bezeless, maybe 6.2 would be perfect.
