Elephone P8000 metal chassis measures 7.2mm thick

Elephone’s P8000 features a few improvements over the current P7000, the large battery being one and the thin 7.2mm chassis being another.

As we posted last night the Elephone P8000 is heading for launch towards the end of next month and will feature the later MT6752 chipset for better FDD LTE support outside of China. The new chip is only part of the upgrade over the P7000, the rest is in the battery and the design.

Gizchina News of the week

Where as the Elephone P7000 has a 3450mAh battery stuffed in to a 8.9mm body, the Elephone P8000 manages to get a much larger 4165mAh battery inside a slightly thinner 7.2mm body. The following photos show the P8000 chassis.

The images also show dual SIM support, micro SD and the metal and plastic construction of the phone. Elephone are reported to be launching the Elephone P8000 at the end of July for around $209.99.

Would be worth considering, the specs are very tempting..but for me all will depend not just on battery and chassis..but also the display quality, Camera, and overall integration of the final product.

Add the rear battery cover and front display, and then measure it again. Seriously? (The P7000 also has a “thin” metal chassis. But even then, Andi commented that the final product ultimately was “a little chunky.”) I can see people choosing the P8000 for its slightly different yet really nice design and more compatible LTE frequencies, but I would say that P7000 customers can be happy with their higher clocked processor, removable battery (I ordered two backups for quick swap) and still a really sleek design. Regardless, go Elephone. Choice is good. But please provide ongoing support for all these releases. Thanks.

Previous GizChina posts said it will use the MT6753 chip not the 6752. Just a typo?
