More OnePlus 2 News, rumours of two phones but the details don’t sound right to us!

The OnePlus Two sounds like it will launch later in the year, and with a recent price drop of the OPO it is a classic sign that the start up is clearing stock ahead of the new arrival. Or is it the “arrivals”?

In this day and age it is difficult to keep any phone launch or parameter a perfect secret ahead of the release date, and this applies even to the OnePlus Two, details of which have slipped on to the Chinese web to insiders who claim to have seen the phones in ministry documents.

It had been rumoured that OnePlus might actually release two new device this year, and in fact this is what insiders are telling us too.

The phone that many will be be most interested in is the flagship OnePlus 2, or A2001. The key features of this phone being 3GB RAM, Snapdragon 810 processor, 16 mega-pixel main camera and 5 mega-pixel front. A 2K display and fingerprint scanner are also believed to be part of the package.

Then there could be a second phone. This second OnePlus 2 will be a mid ranger with similar design to the flagship but more affordable hardware inside. Insiders say the phone will have a Snapdragon 615, 1080 display, 2GB RAM, front and rear 8 mega-pixel cameras and ship with Android 5.1.

What we think of these OnePlus rumours

While the flagship model seems like a modest upgrade over the current OnePlus One, it does keep up with most modern-day flagships and would make the best use of today’s hardware at an affordable price.

The second OnePlus Two model strikes us as very odd though. With only 2GB RAM and a Snapdragon 615, we find it hard to believe that anyone wanting a OnePlus device would buy this phone when the current OPO will offer similar performance and likely at a similar price without the supply issues. Unless the 2nd phone is a smaller device, what are the benefits of buying it?

And now that Cyanogen are no longer in the picture what is the major benefit of a OnePlus over phone from another manufacturer?

The second model would have to be a 5″ and extremely cheap. Kind of like the Oppo R7 which boasts similar specs. Those renders look like the Oppo R7 plus don’t they?

The small one has no reason to cost as much the the One , would have to be half or less but 615 is a really bad idea in Q3. 620 would be nice at a higher price ofc.
As for the SD810 one… even the SD801 is better since at least it doesn’t choke when you need it to work. SD810 and 808 are selling just on marketing, the older chips are better but they are old so people don’t want them anymore.

Comparable midrangers out there with good prices. Most of them stacked in eastern markets.
But SD615 approaching end of it’s life. SD415 devices with comparable specs expected to be out H1 2015.
SD425, SD618 and SD620 is scheduled to H2 2015.

Ok, I’ll bite. First a prologue of sorts.
I’m certain they had many debates over size of screen (bigger is better, but less battery life), size of battery (bigger is better, but heavier phone) which also ties to the width and thickness of the phone and comfort. Basically as we all know here, first impressions for us geeks will always be specs. Remember your first reaction to the Moto X (2013) specs? Most of us laughed. And then the Moto G? Laughed even harder.
OP didn’t want to be punked out. They chose everything methodically, and I personally think they created a perfect phone, if not THE perfect phone (at the time). Just enough battery, just big enough screen, just the right software and processor to get all day battery and a slick user experience out of the box. Not even mentioning that camera.
Now where to go from there? Again, bigger is better:
1. Screen. 5.5″ to 6″
2. Optional hardware / software keys again (tied to #3)
3. 4100 mAh battery — they can do this size if you also go with the hardware keys. This increases the bezel and allows room for a bigger battery. Fast charging? Tied to #4.
4. Processor. #neversettle means 810. Personally I believe they are waiting for 820 and that new fingerprint tech aka their new secret weapon no one’s talking about.
5. 4GB DDR4 Ram. Asus put on the pressure, Lenovo’s not helping any 😉
6. It’ll be Sony’s imx234 🙂 8 on front, 16 on back, confirming the rumours for MP size.
Bonus points: They really need to try front facing speakers imho or something more innovative like built in sub.
What separates OP from everyone was the combination of smart design and smart software not just one or the other. So they got the PA team, so I don’t see a problem. The software for the OP2 better be better than OOS if they would like to be more successful. I think they realize that now, that’s why PA team’s been so quiet.
They are afraid that if they try to do what Motorola did they will lose customers. After all, they are a very new company, and cannot afford another screw up. Hence, 2 different phones for Q3. Sure, we SAY we want 5.0″ phones, but are we trolling OP by saying this, and then when they make a smaller phone will we not buy it?

for me the 1+2 should have a either a 6 inch screen with same dimensions or smaller of 5.5 inch screen but smaller. onscreen buttons will be best. 1080 for the screen is enough. it should have dual boot android/windows 4gb ram and the either 64gb or 128gb ROM. battery should be at least 4000mAH with fast charging( and wireless charging)and removable . also it should have the latest mediatek processor. 16-23mp camera back and at least 8mp front. metal body. and maybe something similar curved screen as on the note edge( not s6 edge). price should be around 300 euro or less

    no 2k screen should put the cost lower. but for less bezel I’m willing to pay just look at letv latest phones. that are the perfect dimensions for a 5.5 inch screen
