China’s Phicomm announced its Passion 660 (known as the P660 in China) for the Indian market earlier today. The phone is essentially a mid-ranger with specifications comparable to the Xiaomi Mi 4i.
Phicomm announced the phone for 10,999 INR or roughly US$171 for the Indian market. The Passion 660 happens to be Phicomm’s first phone for India, and from what we can tell from the on-paper specs, the device does look like a decent one. Full specifications of the phone include a 5-inch 1920 x 1080p display, 1.5GHz octa-core Snapdragon 615 chipset (seems to be the first gen SD615), 2GB of RAM and 16GB on board storage.
It has the usual 13 mega-pixel rear and 5 mega-pixel front camera set, and comes with a rather low capacity 2300mAh battery. The phone also supports dual SIM, with a ‘hybrid’ slot for microSD expansion. The Passion 660 is priced at 10,999 INR (US$170) in India, which doesn’t seem like an asking price all that bad. Competition from Xiaomi is fierce, but Phicomm have price on their side.
The phone will be an Amazon India exclusive, with availability set to commence June 9th.
