If you have picked up the Meizu m1 note from China, then you will have found that there are no Google services! Thankfully there is a fix and it really couldn’t be any easier!
Like many Chinese phones, the Chinese version of the Meizu m1 note ships with a ROM designed for the Chinese market, and that means there are no Google services or Google applications installed as standard.
Thankfully it is a very painless and straightforward fix. All you need is a WIFI connection and a few moments.
How to install Google Apps on the Meizu m1 note
Sometimes it can be a nightmare getting Gapps on your Chinese Android device, other times it is as simple as installing a special installer apk. Meizu have opted for the easy route.
Before you go ahead and install the “Google Installer” application make sure you have your phone connected to a WIFI network so you don’t get any silly charges on your LTE data. To get to your WIFI setting in Flyme simply:
Gizchina News of the week
- Swipe down from the top of the screen to open the notifications area
- Press the arrow under the WIFI icon
- Select your WIFI
- Enter your password (if needed)
Now that you are connected to the web you can go ahead and install Gapps on your Meizu m1 note. To do that follow these steps:
- Open the “AppCenter”. Its a blue icon that looks like a shopping bag
- From there seach for “Google Installer”
- The app you are looking for will have the Google ‘g’ on a background for yellow, red, blue and green.
- Hit install
- Once installed hit open
- Now it is a simple as pressing “Start the installation”
- Now that is finished you can return to your home screen and fine, Google Playstore, and Google settings!
- Done
All you need to do now is add your Google credentials and start download from the Google Play Store, connect to Gmail etc.
Have you guys noticed that the MX5 went through TENAA with pics and all http://shouji.tenaa.com.cn/mobile/MobileDetail.aspx?code=XSRnDagtFCve93Gthgki7vo2d1b3MzUr
There is a bit of a controversy about the SoC , Mediatek doesn’t have 2.3GHz , Intel does but not with 8 cores and ofc it’s listed as having 4x optical zoom.
My bet is that they are using Intel and the 4 at zoom should be at number of cores but remains to be seen, everybody expects MT6795T.
The TENAA dimensions or screen size should be off too, no way 5.5 inch with those bezels is just 146mm tall.
Edit 2: and a bunch of screenshots here http://news.mydrivers.com/1/433/433247.htm
plus a claim that it’s using MT6793 , although that would be an unknown SoC.
Edit: Just found this render http://img1.mydrivers.com/img/20150604/963172ef0c6f4d8e8a31fe7e07b4144b.jpg
Nice find!
The MX5 has an incredible compact design, for a 5,5″ screen size: 146×74.6×7.9 mm
It could be the Helios X20 that can be clocked up to 2.5gHz but that isn’t octacore either, could be a tweaked version of the X10 or could be a SoC we don’t know about yet given their close relationship with MTK.
No it can’t be the X20,that one ships to device makers in Q4 and devices hit retail afterwards.
Mediatek now owns a part of Meizu, a deal which has been in the works for quite some time. If anyone has early access to the X20 it would be them. The same happened with the MX4, the 6595 wasn’t supposed to be released till late Q4 and they had access to it first.
lol you can’t have early access to something that does NOT exist.
Anyway it’s a MT6795.
As for the so called investment, that is just a rumor and remains that until a reliable source confirms it.
Hi Andi,
Can we use the same way to install google services on the Letv One?

Isnt the 6795 and the X20 the same chip?
Hi Andi,

As a user, installing Google App on Android is a piece of cake for us, not a challenge. As a manufacturer, challenge is development or optimization of OS and software on it. I have 2 * m1 note and both are facing same problems. They are stuck on multitasking with 2gb ram and 8 core SoC . In addition, late notifications, mail app connection fail with Wi-Fi internet. Non responsive browser app. Even, they are frozen sometimes, I don’t know reason. As a result, M1 note fails to pass optimization.
Dear Andi, please stop marketing of Meizu. Just use m1 note in long term, then make a review objectively. I wrote down my problems with this phone. Then, someone who have never had Mevzu phone came here and f*cked the discussion. Then you banned me. Congratulations!
Now I am here and still writing my problems with this phone which Flyme os updates don’t cover or resolve them. Still, I hope gizchina Germany, Italy or one of other division will make objective long term usage review of m1 note. They are objective and I trust them. I am sorry, I don’t trust you anymore!
Best regards,
