The Oukitel U8 is also called the Elephone P7000 minus the steroids. The phone features the soon-to-be-standard fingerprint sensor on the rear, and comes with the ‘WorldMode LTE’ i.e., MediaTek MT6735 chipset.
It doesn’t cost as much as the Elephone P7000, and is (supposed to be) readily available. These are the things that play in the favour of the U8. The company just sent over some minute details about the next in line phone, i.e., the Oukitel U9. Like the U8, the U9 too features 2.5D curved glass (which again seems to be quite an in thing as of now), but is going to be a bit more powerful than the U8.
For starters, the U9 will have a MediaTek MT6753 processor and 3GB of RAM, which makes it clear that Oukitel are looking to compete with the ‘biggies’. Besides the octa-core processor, the U9 will also have 3GB of RAM and 16GB of on-board storage.
Google just outed details about Android M, but the U9 will have only Android 5.1; the ‘only’ bit is, of course, sarcasm. Most Chinese flagships of this year have shipped with the Sony IMX214, but there’s no word on what exact sensor the U9 will feature for its 16 mega-pixel camera.
The company also note that the final specs of this phone are yet unconfirmed, but from the renders one would imagine that the U9 will be quite a beautiful phone. Launch is expected to take place next month.
Would you bet on a brand like Oukitel?
Most likely not Gorilla Glass 3 but would be tempered.
It’s apparently only 6.9mm thick so may not be a big battery, unless they have access to the latest technology.
Lets hope this 16 mp cam is real this time. the 13 mp interpolated 8mp cam on the otherwise gorgeous u8 iw why i cancelled my order (+ the mtk6735 having lower specs than the earlier mtk6732). Hope this time the listing is gonna be accurate because i like their designs!
If you read carefully on some sites is noted that the camera is interpolated 8mp and not a real 13mp. s7yler also said that this might be the case with the new Mlais M7 too.
