Two of the most talked about phones in the last month have been the Ulefone Be Touch and the Elephone P7000. While the latter took its own time in getting to shelves, the Be Touch is already shipping and is available readily.
During the review of the Be Touch, we found the phone to be an extremely well made device but with lack of proper supporting software. Also, a gripe that a lot of GizChina readers had with the device was that it has only a 720p display. Ulefone seems to have heard that, and is already preparing the launch of the next phone.
(UPDATE) The phone — the Ulefone Be Touch 2 — will be more powerful and yet have a cheaper price tag. The Be Touch 2 will sell for US$179.99, a US$20-30 drop from the ~US$210 of the Be Touch. The special price will only be for a limited time and will eventually rise to $230.
One among the major upgrades on the Be Touch 2 will be the display, which will finally be a full HD panel. If you’ve read our review of the Be Touch, you’ll know that display is where the phone doesn’t score a lot of points. That should finally change with the upgrade. Coming back to the Be Touch 2, it’ll have the same 3GB RAM, octa-core MT6752 processor and 13 mega-pixel main camera.
Software is something the company seems to have taken seriously for the Be Touch 2, which is why the phone will ship with Android 5.1. Battery will get an update too, which will now be a 3050mAh unit from the 2550mAh of the Be Touch.
If I’ve already bought the first version, I felt realy sad about this news. But I haven’t:). Begin thinking of buying it.
I don’t know. I don’t have this phone.
So far no root, but the latest OTA has been running pretty smooth. I’m willing to wait for a confirmed safe root method, hopefully on xda soon.
Software updates is good, and they have frequently updated OTA
I think you can find the tool on XDA
