After a tonne of delays, Elephone finally started shipping the P7000 a few days back. Yet there are people who are lining up to get one, many to no avail.
If you’re one of them, you might want to watch this video by YouTube channel IXtutor where he dissects the Elephone flagship, leaving nothing to your imagination. The phone comes with a 5.5-inch screen, MT6752 processor, 3GB RAM and has other top-notch specs including a Sony IMX214 rear camera (which the video also shows).
Gizchina News of the week
The P7000 sells for US$230 generally, but a lot of online stores hold/have held promotional activities where the phone is offered for US$160. Is it a device worth your money? Our upcoming review should tell you that, but in the meantime, this video (which also includes a bend test) should keep you satisfied.
Elephone P7000: Dissected
Be sure to let us know what you think about the dissection in the comments section below.
Total crap, was lucky NOT to get an ele code promotion.
Kudos to Steven for telling people the truth about this lowlife manufacturers who sells devices based upon one and only quality check “if it turns on is good”.
Flexible is ok as long as it returns to it’s original shape…not bent & broke like an iPhone 6/6 Plus LOL
When are you going to release the full review?
Another day, another annual flagship superphone from Elephone!
Now that he’s blown their cover, I guess the marketing guys at Elephone won’t be sending Steven any more free phones for review. Better stick with the YouTube reviewers who only say nice things about their phones and if something nasty comes up, just say it’ll be fixed in the next firmware update!
But so much fluff…
He doesn’t test the phone a lot or tells the “truth”.
He’s basically an unboxer that starts the phone, run a game or two and a benchmark.
I also watch IXtutor. And if I’m interested in a phone, I watch other reviews too. But for a first sight, s7yler is great.
I have one of these phones on order and paid for ($160) special price but not shipped yet. After looking at the video and looking at other reviews they are pretty negative about the build quality and buggy 5.0 rom, should I cancel and buy a Jiayu S3 at full price?. When will the Gizchina review be shown?
s3 or s3 advance? can you find it/them at 160$?
cyano 12.1 is just arrived for elephone p7000 (headphone’s jack and finger scan not working right now)
No you can not find Jiayu S3 at $160 but on some websites you can find the S3 advanced for $190. I buy a mobile phone every 2 years so the phone has to last a minimum of 2 years. If the P7000 is bendy (and stays bent if you put it in your pocket) I cannot see it lasting 2 years. I would rather pay $190 for the S3 that would last 2 years.
I mentioned the price because I was interested to s3 advance too but if you change phone every 2 years $30 are not a big deal…you can give a try to lenovo k3 note too or meizu m1 note (meizu quality and warranty are 1000times better than others)
Besides bending (and famous Chinese warranty) there’s another part that keeps me far from elephone: support (for the sw bugs).
Elephone is also launching p8000, s2, s2plus and vowney in few weeks/month, what are they going to do? Truly support for all of them? I’m afraid not…
buggy rom, mono speaker – I can understand all that but slating a phone cos it bends? will it be the first? You think the Jiayu s3, Xiaomi will not bend? really?
I have had three Xiaomi phones now, none of them have ever come close to bending…
question is, did you intentionally try hard to bend them as in the video? I will give you $50 if you can prove this on tape. lol.
No but there are videos out there of people doing just that and not being able to.
That’s well known about the Iphone.
so why is everyone slating the elephone for bending? never mind the fact that it is waaaaay cheaper than the iphone.
Any phone that bends is not good. Not sure why your working so hard to defend a phone that has bad build quality. Do you work for Elephone?
No, I don’t work for Elephone but this is not the only phone that bends. The iphone does bend. heck, I believe most phones will bend. Give it a try on yours and revert back with proof.
I have tried it on several phones I own. A Mi4, iOcean X8, Alcatel One Touch and Samsung S6 (wifes phones). None of them even came close to bending. The only phones that bend are ones that are poorly designed/manufactured.
Words my friends, mere words. You got proof of this?
And are you saying that the iphone is badly designed/manufactured? now that is VERY interesting.
I don’t need proof, if you don’t believe test it for yourself or check the hundreds of internet forums. After the Iphone 6+ debacle every forum related to smartphones exploded with bend and other durability tests.
The Iphone 6 Plus bends because it was a flawed design, there is a weak point between the chasis and the volume button. When you put any pressure on this weak point their is nothing to hold it together and it bends. What is “VERY” interesting about that? Apple had zero experience with large screen phones. Even the big boys get things wrong sometimes.
Well even the iphone bends 🙂
I didn’t buy the elephone (yet) just because I’m afraid of support
Will be interesting to see the same test on the competition like ulefone be touch. But metal frame looks thicker on be touch.
Cheapest I have seen the S3 is about $170 in various sales, right now the cheapest I found was $181 at Pandawill.
181$ is really good price
The 181$ price was a special offer in a flash sale which has already ended. The normal price on Pandawill at this time is $200 when the flash sale ends they put the special offer item “out of stock”. They may do another flash sale, if they do they just remove the “out of stock” flag.
Ahh your right I just looked quick when I saw it. The S3 is a phone you have to watch closely because in the past few months I have seen sales on it for as low as $165 but you have to act very quickly when you see that.
Depends on where you live. Geekvida (branch of pandawill) sells the regular Jiayu S3 for 200-210€ with shipping from european warehouses. It’ll arive in a few days all shipping and taxes included. Ordering from China isn’t worth the hassle as far as i’m concerned: 180$ +20% customs + 1% bank exchange fee won’t save you anything.
I have only paid customs twice, once in Thailand and once when I lived in Cambodia. Other than that I have never had to deal with customs.
Itxtutor is one of my favo reviewers of china phones, he is one of the view who truly say’s if its really crap and you should stay away from a certain phone. But i don know if he keeps doing that they wont send him test phones anymore. Especially Elephone right now.
