Before the launch of the Xiaomi Yi Camera, the SJCAM series was, without doubt, the most popular GoPro rival lineup. The SJ4000, particularly, was perhaps the ‘pioneer’ at that.
SJCAM has now released the SJ4000+ (weirdly enough, it comes after the SJ5000+). The confusing model names apart, what should interest you is the fact that it comes with 2K recording (2560 x 1440 pixels) and has a price tag of under US$150!
It also comes with WiFi so you can stream video to your Android/iOS device, and even control the camera using your smart device. The main chip powering the SJCAM SJ4000+ is the Novatek 96660. In 2K mode, the SJ4000+ will capture video at 30fps, but 60fps can be captured in up to 1080p.
From the pictures, we can tell that this one looks exactly like the SJ4000 of last year. The SJ4000+ is currently US$150 on Geekbuying, but you can expect the prices to fall in the coming months as more and more resellers start offering it.
