A few weeks ago a mysterious metal bodied device, supposedly the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 was spotted in early leaked images. Now new info has emerged about a mysterious device at the Chinese Quality Certification Center, which may well be that mystery metal handset.
Checking the listed info we find that the phone in fact is a Xiaomi device, made by the Fin Precision Electronics with TD-LTE suport, there is still plenty of unknown info but as usual rumours are filling in the blanks.
Gizchina News of the week
Sources in China indicates that the Redmi Note 2 will come with a MT6795 SoC, 3GB of Ram and a 1080p display. Other rumors points the presence of an IR Blaster, for remote control function, and a 3100mAh battery. There also the possibility of a 13MP main camera, everything running Miui V6 based on Android 5.1 Lollipop.
That info puts the new Redmi Note 2 away ahead of the the mid-range first generation model, and put it on the flagship department, with specs enough to compete with high-performance devices. The sources also tells about a launch in the month of July, not long to wait.
Stay tuned for more details of the new device, we will report any new information. Meanwhile feel free to leave your opinion about the new Xiaomi device.

The specs don’t make any sense, this would essentially put it into direct competition with the Mi Note.
but would also render the mi4i and regular mi4 redundant as surely it will have to follow the redmi trend of being in the lower price bracket i.e cheaper than the mi4 range? The rumoured specs cant be right?
The Mi4 and Mi4i will be fine because they are smaller phones. Not everyone wants a phone bigger than 5 inches.
but even so you cant have a lower tier phone with a lower price but higher spec surely? We are talking about half an inch here, from what I see around me in the UK people are more about the latest and greatest specs rather than worry about the screen being 15mm bigger. Giving them that at a cheaper price is even better in their view.
You must not come around here much. Screen size is very important to people. Some people won’t buy a phone with great specs if the screen is too big/small. My good friend Rob won’t but anything under 6 inches. Me personally there are very few phones above 5 inches I will use, and yes I can notice a significant difference.
Maybe the MI Note is not selling well and they are coming with this one with few cheaper components to make the price more appealing.
It’s a realistic scenario to me, but in this case they have to discontinue the MI Note
