Xiaomi Mi 4 on sale for 13,999 INR ($220), OPO for $314 for limited time in India

oneplus one android

Only last week did Xiaomi announce a major price cut for the Mi 4. Today, as part of Flipkart’s BigAppShoppingDays promotion, the price has been slashed further.

The Snapdragon 801 powered Xiaomi Mi 4 is now on sale for just 13,999 INR (US$220) in India. The price will stay only for three days, i.e., 22nd through 24th June. Also, as you may have already noticed from what they’re calling the promotion, the prices are applicable only when you buy via Flipkart’s mobile app. This makes the Mi 4 with 3GB RAM and the aforementioned processor just US$16 more expensive than the Snapdragon 615 powered Xiaomi Mi 4i.

Gizchina News of the week

In related news, the OnePlus One too went on sale via Flipkart, retailing for 19,998 INR (US$314) for the 64GB version. Both the devices, i.e., the Mi 4 and the One, happen to be bargains for tech heads.

Xiaomi’s Mi Band is also being sold for 999 INR (US$16). That is the usual price, but as part of the promotional campaign, the device can be had free from any registration/flash sale.

Hi Yash, is it true that the Mi4i will be released in China for 899 Yuan? There is an offer (flash sale) on Ibuygou where the phone is proposed for $250. After resellers if the Mi4i is released in China its price will be around 190-200$ or maybe at 225$ max. I was hesitating between the Mi4 and Mi4i but I really don’t like the white version of the original Mi4. Moreover only the Wcdma white Mi4 has a significant price drop at the moment. I am not a power user and do not care having a cpu clocked at 2.5ghz. The extra GB ram would be a great advantage but with the 64bit system ram management will be better so I think that 2GB would be enough for the Mi4i. Mi4i has an awesome screen.

        Your opinion is welcome.

        Thanks.

Don’t know about the China launch (haven’t heard anything about that yet), but if I were you I’d go for the Mi 4 over the Mi 4i anyday. And especially now that the prices are so close. Trust me, if you don’t care for LTE, Mi 4 is the way to go 🙂

We’re also planning to do a shootout between the Mi 4 and the Mi 4i, it’ll hopefully be out before you make your decision!

Ok thanks for your message but I honestly hate the white color even if the Mi4 has better specs. At the moment Ibuygou is selling the white wcdma version of the Mi4 at 269$ and the black one (still wcdma) at 285$ of course excluding shipping. Mi4i is at 250$ and the flash sale is ending in less than 40 hours. I think the heating issue will be fixed on the Mi4i through software updates. Mi4i has a better screen, its battery will hold better than the Mi4 for a normal usage. Its cpu is more than capable after seeing some reviews. Its design is also awesome. Final great thing, it is dual sim and has LTE.

Honestly, if the black Mi4 wcdma was sold at 250$ I would have for it without any hesitation but taking into account the EUR.USD levels these days the Mi4i is much more interesting.

            I am fucking lost now.

Hi everyone, I would like to buy a phone but can’t decide which one to order. I am hesitating between the original Xiaomi MI4 and the MI4i. Actually there is only a significant price drop for the white WCDMA version of the MI4 which is not my favorite color (I prefer the black version which is sold around $280 without shipping costs). I am not a power user and don’t need a phone with a CPU clocked at 2.5GHZ. I know that the MI4 has 1GB RAM more comparing the MI4i which might be useful in the future (because of MIUI).

That being said, the MI4i has a better screen comparing the original MI4, a bigger battery and is Dual Sim. It is sold at $260 by the same shop (Ibuygou). The MI4i has a pretty good camera and after multiple charge cycle it will hold for more than 2 days with a normal usage.

Just wondering if Yash or someone else can suggest me their opinion.

    Thanks in advance!

      Hi,
do you need the Dual Sim Function?!
Also you could buy the front screen in Black for the Mi4 and get the white one and change it manually (=> youtube teardown). The cameras are the same i think.

If youre not a power user, i would maybe prefer the Mi4i because of the (slightly) better Display. But i like the Backcovers and stuff more on the Mi4 – so i bought myself the Mi4 🙂
Also i have a Nokia Lumia which is already with Polycarbonat, so wanted something else 😛

Thank you for your reply, I can’t take the risk to buy the white wcdma version of the MI4 at $250 and change the front myself with a black replacement front around $90. It is in my opinion better to get the Black Version directly but I don’t need a very powerful device. Much important to me is the screen, camera and battery life.

Some rumors say Xiaomi may also release the Mi4i in China for around 899 yuan, resellers price then should be around 190-200 USD.

Great, thank you for the information. Hope they will release the device in China pretty soon so I could get one cheaper. At this moment Ibuygou is selling it at $266 (-$5 coupon) excluding shipping costs which might be expensive for a mid range phone compared to the original MI4 price drop. Fingers crossed!

It is funny, after I have read your comment I checked the prices on Ibuygou and they are right now doing a flash sale on the MI4i for 70+ hours. Price is $250 now, should I get it at that price or wait for the release of the device in China?

We still don’t know when Xiaomi will release this phone in China of course. If you are really in an hurry to buy a phone, then the Mi4i could be an option along with zte z9 mini.

The only problem I have with the Mi4i is that some reviews say this device becomes quite hot after some heavy usage (especially playing games).

Well, I have read the same reviews for the Mi4i and I believe that with regular software updates the heating will be fixed in the future. I mean the developers will find a way to fix it. I was also planning to buy the Z9 mini but there is a lack of support around it. I mean community or company regular updates to fix bugs. Z9 mini looks much better but it is more expensive than the Mi4i. You are right, maybe I should get the Mi4i cos we don’t know when the phone will be available in large quantities in China.
