While Oukitel grab headlines with the upcoming Oukitel U9 and Oukitel 10,000mAh battery phone, it is their Oukitel U8 which is holding the torch for the brand and doing so at a new low-cost.
The Oukitel U8 is the the current top of the range phone from Oukitel boasting high-class build quality and decent hardware, and will be available on the 30th June for just $129.99 with free worldwide shipping through Aliexpress.
Details which have the U8 stand out from the crowd include a single-touch fingerprint sensor similar to the unit found on the Huawei Mate 7. What this means is that one single touch will watch and unlock the U8 right away. Other models, such as the P7000 and Be Touch require the press of a button to wake the phone before unlocking. Its a small addition but a useful one. File and photos also have the option to be sealed with your fingerprint, while Android 5.1 means that even a factory reset won’t allow thieves to access your files and data.
Gizchina News of the week
Build is pretty astonishing for the price too, with the phone boasting a frameless look, CNC alloy chassis and 2.5D glass display.
Hardware specifications include a quad-core Mediatek MT6735 chipset, 2GB RAM, 5.5-inch 1280 x 720 display, 13 mega-pixel main camera with dual LED flash and 5 mega-pixel front camera.
For those of you looking to pick the Oukitel U8 up at its special low price of 129.99 you will be able to do so from June 30 to July 7th at the link below.
Top spec is bit of an overstatement! Yes the build quality is excellent, as is the screen.
BUT the mt6735 is clocked at 1ghz and is apparently running in 32bit mode. There is also no glonass support which makes the gps performance less than good.
Overall, $130 is a reasonable price.
I would not have posted this if Oukitel had responded to my messages, but I have to say that I am happy with the phone despite the shortcomings.
Gimme the U9 specs… tired of daily charging
No information about the battery ?? it s really important nowadays
It is 2850 Mah, but according to reviews it drains really fast
Not really, the battery life is great from some video reviews, check steven’s or styler’s on youtube.
Did you ever heared Sy7ler complain about any phone? He’s job is to keep his sponsors happy and he’s doing that very good. Same goes for mayiandjay. Only Steve from ITXTUTOR dares to be critical.
Well Patrick, all my full review videos actually have Pros & Cons in the end of the video, if there are Cons they are mentioned there. On my full review of the Oukitel U8, I actually complain about the very bad built-in speaker, and it is also mentioned in the cons in the end of the video, because the speaker is a joke but the battery is not.
lol the heck! I bought this one month ago as pre-sale, I think I paid around 136. anyway, wife is using it, and it feels and looks great. most important is 5.1, as most chinese phone dont offer upgrade (afaik)
Oh man.. Such a lovely phone. Why did God give me such small hands? I have problems dealing with a 5.0 inch display. ATM the only phone I’m considering buying is Xiaomi Mi 4.
Someone know about other (less than 5.0 inch) phones?
TCL 3S, but no fingerprint scanner.
@crappkid:disqus I would say get an LG G2 or a Samsung Galaxy S4. I myself am a Chinese phone man (have a Samsung galaxy S4 but recently bought the Xiaomi MI3. AWESOME PHONE!) but the 2 phones I mention probably have the smallest body I have ever seen for a 5 inch and 5.2 inch (not positive about the LG) screen. Not much bezel. I know these phones are older but they are still pretty fast (especially the LG) and since they are older you can get them pretty cheap if you can find them.
I have this phone and have been using it for over two weeks. If you are not a gamer, the battery can last you the whole day but if you play a lot the battery won’t last the whole day. There is a super battery save mode that stops all background process that I must say is brilliant and it works. I have enjoyed using this phone so far but there are two things which I hope software update will fix.
1, Fingerprint scanner: I am black male and the fingerprint scanner is not doing well recognising my fingerprint, sometimes it works but 95% of the time it doesn’t work to the point that I have stopped using it. I have seeing reviews where it’s working perfectly but I don’t think it does well recognising black fingerprints.
2, The screen constantly keep turning on in the pocket especially if you are wearing something tight. I think the screen is too sensitive to the slightest of touch this may just be problem with my unit.
That’s my experience so far but over all I like it even though the fingerprint scanner is useless to me at the moment. Thanks for reading.
Just try to stop gestures in settings.Screen problem will vanish.
I have all screen gesture turned off except double tap to wake and double on home button to sleep.
I remember HP cameras not recognising black complexions and it was dubbed racist. It is a shame if that is same scenario again.
The problem with fingerprint scanner is definitely related to your skin pigmentation.
Unfortunately there is no way to fix that in current generation of sensors.
This is tied to every devices using them. I remember fuss about Apple’s iwatch recently concerning the same sensor problem.
The option to limit background process tasks count is a long time standard present one in developer’s menu.
Thanks Lazar, but what is annoying is that I have contacted Oukitel and its nearly a week now and they have responded.
Don’t expect much of a costumer care from any Chinese company including top biggest ones like Huawei & Lenovo.
Oukitel is the international brand name (only debuted this year) Chinese phone maker Shenzhen Yunji Intelligent Technology Co. Ltd uses. The maker started making Android phones under the Ouki brand in 2013.

I’ve always had trouble with ‘free shipping’ from aliexpress to EU. Most of the time they don’t declare any shipping cost (which there always is for the company) which leads to maximum taxes and customs payment.. which is over 40 euros. I’d rather pay for shipping, less chance of customs and still be off cheaper.
Then select DHL for shipping.
That’s what I do. I’m commenting on the “free worldwide shipping” info in the article, as to warn unknowing/ new customers at aliexpress to think about their chosen shipping method.
