The Elephone P6000 is truly a lovely purchase even today, but it looks like the folks at the company want to make it better… or at least try to.
Elephone have updated the CPU of the P6000 to the newer MediaTek MT6753 to make the P6000 Pro. Besides the newer CPU, the P6000 Pro also gets a 3GB RAM variant. This is the bit that truly sounds like an upgrade to me, much more so than the CPU.
The rest of the phone remains the same; there’s the same 5-inch 1280 x 720p display, 13 mega-pixel main camera, 2 mega-pixel front camera and a 2700mAh battery. If you haven’t done so yet, you can read our review of the impressive P6000 here.
Gizchina News of the week
This does sound like an interesting ‘upgrade’, for not a lot of people believe the MT6753 to be better than the MT6752. Nonetheless, performance should get a bump from the MT6732 that the P6000 had; it’ll be interesting to see how much of a bump there will be on this.
The phone is currently listed on GeekBuying for US$150/US$130 for the 3GB/2GB RAM versions and should be available via most other channels soon. Expect a price drop of around US$10 in the coming days for the 2GB RAM edition, common sense would say.
Performance will only get a pump in the CPU department in multi-threaded apps. Apps that’ll use single threads will suffer more though. And GPU perf gets worse too.
My bad … that was a typo. Was meaning to type Mt6753 and not 35. But still, the GPU and single core performance is weaker than that of the MT6732.
Cpu is same at the one core performace… but gpu is better i think so… mali-t760MP2 have just 2 cores and 500 mhz, mali-t720MP3 have 3 cores and 700 mhz. 🙂 Look at the specs
Not sure where your getting you info from (mhz values or MP3)…
Man all of manufacturers changing tack of gpu for what they need. And mt6753 have officialy gpu mali-t720MP3 and 700 mhz (official wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaTek)
Example info here (but can send another): http://www.devicespecifications.com/en/comparison/ee173663e
PS: I think performance will be little better, not too much, just little.
Didn’t spot that on wikipedia – and the source: http://community.arm.com/groups/arm-mali-graphics/blog/2015/02/18/mediatek-scales-the-mobile-market-with-mali-t720
The devicespec sheet is clearly wrong on some of the basic specs; weight is definitely goning to be more with the Pro and the main benefit of the MT6735/53 devices – is the additional radio frequencies.
