4300mAh Mlais MX Base will cost just $99.99 for one month

mlais mx base

Huge competition in the Chinese phone market means some really great pricing for Chinese tech fans. Today another large battery phone has seen a price cut from $139.99 to just $99.99.

The Mlais MX Base smartphone is the big battery beast of the Mlais range. At 4300mAh, the batter in the MX Base isn’t the largest we have seen in a smartphone this year, but it is certainly bigger than anything we have seen in a phone costing just $99.99!

Mlais originally built the MX Base to cost $140, so specs are pretty generous now that the cost has been dropped by $40. Those specifications include a 64bit Mediatek MT6735 chipset, 2GB RAM, 4G LTE dual SIM, micro SD card, Android 5.1 and 8 mega-pixel main camera. The MX Base supports FDD-LTE 800/1800/2100/2600MHz and 3G WCDMA 850/900/1900/2100MHz, for those of you thinking to pick the device up.

With a 4300mAh battery you should be looking at least 2 days of battery life from the 5-inch 720p smartphone, plus with USB OTG you can also use the battery to charge other devices. There is even an IR blaster on the phone to add further functionality.

More details can be found over on the Mlais website.

Hello, andi all the sites from your mlais link in the article are selling this phone for $140. Can you explain why that is ?

      • Sam Butler
        July 3, 2015

Its 20 units per day per site. Each site has a different time that those 20 units for the day begin to sell. These are listed on each sites promotional page, which is linked from the mlais website.

no, it is not even 20, geekbuying says 2-4 units per day..

    It should be 4800mah

    • Andrew P
      June 27, 2015

I would buy it if it had at least 4301 mAh, 4300 is way too little.

      • balcobomber25
        June 27, 2015

        I hope this is sarcasm…

To Jutifyer the difference between 4800 and 4300 can be great or it can be minimal, there are so many factors at play. I know of phones with 5000 that get the same or worse battery life than phones with 4000. It all depends on the components used and the software and the personal habits of the user. With a low power CPU and a 720p display this thing will last quite some time.

        • Andrew P
          June 27, 2015

Sure it’s not a sarcasm, 1 mAh is a massive difference. 3 seconds additional battery time is a wow.

The specs say 4800. He made a typo or is mistaken. Thats what i wanted to say.

The Mlais M52 lasted me one month, that’s the worse experience I have with a chinese phone, sure while it worked it was a beast but the build quality leaves a lot to be desired when you know you’re not the only one that suffered the same manufacturing defect.

2 days ago I would have pulled out my credit card, today I’m hoping I can send it back to china and order another phone with on store credit refund.

Hi, I am considering buying the phone. But what you are saying makes me unsure. Do you think that the siswoo c55 should be a better choice. From the new phones with a big battery there is more information/review only about bluboo x550 and I would like see/read some reviews of the other phones. I still awaiting. What happened actually to your M52?

Mine M52 is doing fine in terms of build quality.

      June 27, 2015

This is the first I have heard of problems with the M52. Most say it is a very well built phone. Maybe you just got a dud, happens with every brand.

      • Xalis
        June 27, 2015

Mlais deletes all info about this problem, the digitizer gets crazy near the micro usb and 3.5jack and some LCDs die after this, i’m waiting for the warranty response of GearBest if they refuse I will tear it down, it’s moslikely that the 3.5jack is fucking with the digitizer, since you can make little presure between the earspeaker and the 4g logo and you will get ghost touches on the screen.

Mlais may delete info on their own forums but they have no control over independent forums where overall people have loved it. I don’t doubt you are having bad problems with it, but maybe you just got a crap unit. Happened to me the first and only time I bought a Samsung. My Galaxy S3 was full of problems from day one.

Hi mate, I have found the Z9 mini at $250 on JD.COM website. I believe that it is a great offer. Have you heard bad things about it? I know that it is using the SNAPDRAGON 615 Soc (1Gen). The phone is nicely built, has a very good camera, SD slot for storage and a 2900mAH battery. Thanks.

I haven’t seen very detailed heating tests on Youtube but according to some reviews it does heat less comparing the Mi4i. Moreover, some dudes are trying to develop a Miui Rom for it.

              June 28, 2015

I would rather get the Xiaomi Mi4 than the Nubia Z9 Mini unless you REALLY need the MicroSD and Dual SIM from the Z9 Mini. The Mi4 3GB RAM with no LTE goes for $225-$230 at Aliexpress.

But like balco say, the Z9 Mini is good if you don’t game a lot since it comes with a GPU that reach 60 GFLOPS, while the Mi4 reach 166GLOPS, but you will need a custom ROM for the Nubia Z9 Mini, luckily there is a Italian developer that does wonders with the shitty Nubia UI, you can find his ROM for the Nubia Z9 Mini google searching “Nubia Cuoco92”

            • Xalis
              June 28, 2015

And just to add, you don’t have to worry about Nubia build quality, their phones are on par with any other top brand.

Thank you Xalis, I was planning to buy the Xiaomi Mi4i but it has a heating issue pointed out by many owners. Moreover, some of them had some lags when using their mobile. Maybe in the future with software updates will be fixed, I might be wrong. I really don’t need a microSD slot. I am not really a fan of the White version of the Mi4, I am aware of the recent price drop for the Wcdma version. Euro decline against USD doesn’t help to order phones from China. I am really lost!!!!

              June 28, 2015

The black version goes for $250.

On related news, I just fixed my Mlais M52, how? I just tightened the screws and the problem started slowly to disappear, right now it’s working like intended, still I would not recommend it, I’m still waiting for GearBest response, I kind of want to find out what’s wrong with it and I need to tear it down, but at the same time I just want to get rid of it and get something else.

              Just a thought but…
Could this be that the physics limit the quality? I mean that maybe 5-5.5″ is too big for a plastic frame??? Just referring to my crappy phone’s operation? Maybe M7 went to aluminium because of this? (I know that you can make ridges etc. but the weight and the needed engineering might be too much…)

I am not a gamer but I will sometime play games such as Fifa. I have seen the facebook of the guy (cuoco92) who is doing great job on the Z9 Mini. At the moment Ibuygou is doing a flash sale on the Black Wcdma version of the Mi4 at $270 excluding shipping costs. What would you choose in the list below?

              – Xiaomi Mi4i
              – Xiaomi Mi4 Black Wcdma
              – THL 2015
              – Nubia Z9 Mini
              – Redmi 2 (Snap 410 isn’t very powerful for gaming)
              – Xiaomi Mi3 (is still a great phone but bigger for my hands)
              – Siswoo Cooper I7 (weak wifi, small capacity battery)

            • Xalis
              June 28, 2015

Without a doubt the Mi4, I have seen the Mi3 for $175 but yeah it’s ugly and big(but so is the THL2015).

The Snapdragon 615 will be enough for any modern game, but you will start to see his age way sooner than the Snapdragon 801, and the GPU on the THL is weaker than the one of the Z9 Mini/Mi4i, like 20% weaker, but like I said still enough for any modern game, the GPU on the Redmi 2 is another story it is half as powerful than the one on the SD615, I would advice against for such price.

The Mi3 is basically a low budget Mi4 with no IR blaster, 1GB less RAM and IMX135 instead of IMX214, the rest is virtually the same than the Mi4

I would buy them in this order:
              Mi4 3GB+3G ($225-250) (Aliexpress)
              Mi3 ($175-$200) (Aliexpress)
              Mi4i / Z9 Mini ($225-$270 and $240-$270) (GearBest or Aliexpress)
              THL 2015 ($230) (GearBest)

Thank you Xalis! I will choose a phone early next week and buy it from Aliexpress or Gearbest. All the best!

              June 28, 2015

The SD 615 is a good SoC as long as you are not a heavy gamer, it can heat up very quickly under high loads. As for the Z9 mini, Nubia(actually ZTE) makes some excellent phones. They are well built and use high quality components. The problem with them is their software isn’t the greatest.

Thank you for your comment. I will think about it and probably go for the Z9 Mini or THL 2015. It is very difficult the right phone in the market, I mean every phone has pros and cons. I really don’t want to spend too much money in it. I have seen that the MI4 is also heating up. Hope to see a new firmware release for the THL 2015.

The Mi4 heats up a little bit but that is normal for phones running MIUI. I owned one for 8 months and it was only slightly hotter than most phones. I like the Siswoo I7 personally but my next Android phone is probably going to be the Blu Life One. Right now I am using an Ubuntu Phone.

I was using the BQ E5 but it was a crap phone, lasted about 2 weeks before breaking. Ubuntu itself was very close to being a good alternative provided you don’t use a lot of apps. It needs a bit more polish but it is good overall. Currently my phone is a Meizu MX5.

One more question though, I bought a Elephone p5000 a while ago for my dad but it’s broken (unfixable boot problem). I wanted to buy a Mlais Mx Base for him (big battery), would you recommend it?

            June 29, 2015

At first my only complain was that the body was “crushy” no matter how you pick it from a desk it makes crushing sounds, the phone with the latest update had nothing to ask from phones costing twice or more, maybe night shots with the camera are way below average and the speaker quality is below average, for example the Doogee DG580 has a way better speaker with better and louder sound(once you modify the volume on engineering mode) and the speaker was considered one of the weakest points of the DG580, it has a nice volume and you can increase it on engineering mode but the audio quality is awful on the M52, other than that I was pretty happy until the ghost touches started to happen, and now are gone but: for how long?

              July 27, 2015

              Thank you!
My fake Lenovo is much worse; I get ghost touches from squeezing the frame hard…. 🙁 / 😀 (Or when it’s in the jeans pocket etc. …)

I read somewhere that “real” (from the jack) audio q’s good — So, I think I’m gonna go: “One M52 please!”

Only new worries about Lollipop only though…;(
