If you have read the reviews of the Xiaomi Mi 4i then I’m sure you have realised it is an amazing piece of hardware just let down by the OS, this could now all hopefully change.
Try as they might, Xiaomi have simply not been able to optimise MIUI for the Xiaomi Mi 4i phone. With its Snapdragon 615 chipset and 2GB RAM the phone struggles with MIUI and everyone who owns the phone (myself included) still has issues with overheating.
Whether the optimisation issues have gotten the better of them, or Xiaomi had planned it all along we don’t know, but the kernel source code for the mid range flagship has been released and available to download via Github.
Gizchina News of the week
What this means is that developers can now go off and brew some exciting ROMS for the phone which might finally see the device meet its potential. Personally what I hope for now is a nice CM install (even though I’m not a huge fan of Cyanogenmod), so I can actually enjoy the Mi 4i’s quality build without suffering lag. Fingers crossed.
