Pete Lau says the OnePlus 2 will be priced under $450

OnePlus’s CEO Pete Lau has recently stated that the upcoming OnePlus 2 will not be priced anywhere above $450.

The exact quote from Pete was “I can promise that the OnePlus 2 will be priced under 450 USD”. We’d hazard a guess that this means the price of the device will be $449, but anything’s possible for now.

This means that the OnePlus 2 will also be substantially more expensive that it’s predecessor and will go into direct competition with higher end brands like Huawei, ZTE and Meizu. Despite having its specs teased many times, the OnePlus 2 is still one of the most anticipated Chinese smartphone launches of the year with fans from all around the world eagerly awaiting the release of the flagship device.

What do you think about this announcement about the OnePlus 2? Does this increase in price deter you from purchasing the device, or do you feel this price hike will pay off in the end? Tell us in the comments below.

It seems like they set their first phone price to low just to get fans, who would buy more expensive phones in the future.

Once you smell the money, you wan’t more..

Wonder if they survive to release OP3 next year, doesn’t look likely.
Last year they had 3 big pluses: proper specs, liked ROM and good price while no microSD was the only major negative. This year it seems they lost all 3 major positives and they are really not giving anyone any reason at all to buy their product.

They even have the negative by using the infamous 810. It’s complete.

So next one probably will be under $600. They are taking care of overwhelming demand problem.

problem is, oneplus is very late to adopt technology, they are giving snapdragon 810 now when it is a matter of past, in next three to five months, qualcomm will be releasing 820, also nvidia will bring a matured and powerful SoC soon, so oneplus will be in trouble selling reasonable amount of devices like oneplus one if price is not within buyer’s limit.

one plus is own by bkk electronic and bkk electronic owns oppo and vivo! therefore charging $450 is nothing to them! my next phone could be either huawei honor 7 or lg g4…. we’ll see.

If is better or equal to Sammy S6, !phone 6 etc, why not $450. I will buy. I have the One+ and I know how good it is. The One+ OTG port can read my 3T byte USB hard drive! Most phone’s OTG can only read 64G Flash/SD drive.

I don’t know why people are complaining it will probably have top end hardware with good software support and still be quite cheaper than Samsung or HTC. They cannot sell the phone without making some profit. The snapdragon 810 alone is 60% more expensive than the 801 was. And now they have their own legit software team which they need to pay as well.

810 expensive and hot. Why bother with this brand if there are so many phones like 1+2?

        Really name a few?

And about the chip we will need to see since it will be underclocked the heat problems may not be as severe as in the g flex 2. don’t forget the m9 ran without a problem even with the original 810 chip.

Too much for any phone. Now, when you can get all that you need for 130-250$ its ridiculous to pay more. Top brands are so much overpriced
