Mstar is a brand commonly associated with producing cheap knock-off devices that have decent but not great quality and specs. They’re now looking to change that view with their upcoming flagship, the Mstar S700 Pro that will be coming out this coming October.
The Mstar S700’s CNC zinc alloy chassis clearly takes it’s inspiration from the Oppo R7, though that isn’t such a bad thing when you get down to it. The Mstar S700 Pro will possibly be one of the first phones to carry Qualcomm’s brand new Snapdragon 820, a 64-bit quad core processor clocked at 3.0GHz coupled with the Adreno 530 GPU (It’s also a mobile stove). Other specs include 4/32GB of RAM/ROM, a 5.5-inch QHD display protected by 2.5D Gorilla Glass 3, expandable memory up to 128GB, a 3500mAh battery and an Ultrasonic Sense fingerprint sensor, something new that comes with the new Snapdragon 820.

The S700 Pro will also have a USB-C port, a 21MP rear camera, an 11MP front facing camera and will run on everyone’s favourite OS, Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. So you must be thinking what’s the catch, right? It’s the price. The Mstar S700 Pro will be available in October for the staggering price of $479.99. Now given that this isn’t really too expensive considering the specs on the table, but it’s also way more than most people would pay for a phone from Mstar, who aren’t exactly well known for making quality devices.
What do you think about the device? Would you be willing to pay that much for a device coming from an unproven manufacturer? Tell us in the comments.
lol
I don’t care about the brand, as long as they have good aftersales that’s what matters most
Well thanks to Gearbest I finally took over my Mstar S700 just this evening.
The phone feels pretty good for the 123$ that it cost me to purchase.
The only downside (a pro in my case because I hate it) is that the fingerscan doesn’t work a shit.
The phone runs like hell, multitasking in Android 5.0 has being given a new meaning. The mediatek chip is running hotter than desired, nothing some under clocking can’t solve. (Mtk6753 takes a new meaning)
I will try some cleaning after rooting it, and as of now, with full works ROM things are running quite snappy.
Charges battery at superspeed , and discharges quite decently taking into account how much hot the processor is producing…
So far so good.
Thanks to Gearbest for dealing with my impatience, I hope to deal with you soon. 11inch Windows 10 single OS tablet where are you?
Lol that’s strange, My Jiayu s3 same SoC doesn’t produce any noticeable heat, running 5.1
S700 /= S700 pro
I doubt that Qualcomm would give any chip to a brand like Mstar, especially the most high end one.
Mstar have still got to pay for the chip, it wouldnt make sense to refuse someones money…..
True, but they also have to care about their reputation and not let their high end chip built into a low quality device.
