Samsung’s new high-end flip phone makes an appearance on TENAA

Although touchscreen smartphones are now considered the standard, many people still pine for the classic designs of the old, stylish flip phones that used to flood the market. Samsung apparently heard about this, as a brand new high-end Samsung flip phone was recently spotted passing through TENAA certification center under the moniker of the SM-G9198.

This isn’t the first time Samsung’s done something like this, as they have made high-end flip phones for the Chinese market before in the shape of the Samsung Galaxy Golden series of smartphones. Putting that aside, the SM-G9198 has pretty high specs to accompany it’s classic design. The device comes with two screens, one on the inside and one on the outside of the phone. Both are 3.91-inches in size and come with a 768×1280 resolution, which should be quite sharp at that size. The G9198 is packing a 1.8GHz hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC, the same processing package found inside the flagship LG G4 which offers pretty great performance.

Aside from that, the device has a 16MP rear camera and 5MP front camera for all your camera needs. The SM-G9198 comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory, which can be expanded with the use of a microSD card. The device even comes packed with a heart rate monitor for those of you who liked the feature in the Galaxy S5. There’s also 4G support here, but no bands were provided, and the device will run Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.

As you can clearly see, this device is clearly more than a capable performer. Unfortunately for those of you who might fancy the device, it’s probably going to be a China exclusive just like the Samsung Galaxy Golden and Golden 2 before it. If it were available however, would you be interested in it? How much would you be willing to pay? Tell us in the comments below.

I would buy up to 350e. They could made it with e-ink display outside. That would be awesome.

If this sells well all the other manufacturers will join in. I think this is quite a neat approach to something different. Remember our reaction to the first note? Ok my reaction ? , now look at it, Samsung has revolutionised the mobile phone industry!
