This year UMi is definitely on a roll, with 4 already launched devices and the highly anticipated UMi Zero 2 around the corner. Yet the company wants to show they still have a lot left in the kitty.
Today through their Facebook page, the company shared a photo-teaser of a new device in development, named as Hammer S. Although there are few details about it right at the moment, we can already find two interesting characteristics present in the picture.
Taking a quick look in the picture we can already see the device will feature a USB Type-C port, a very interesting detail since the Type-C connection will be a trending feature in most smartphones for the next months. For now, USB Type-C is only present on the LeTV phones and the upcoming OnePlus 2. Thanks to the picture, we can also bet in a unibody alloy design or a similar concept as the present in the UMi Iron.
If by chance you’ve spent the last few months in a cave, far from the Chinese news, or simply was not interested in the UMi launches, the UMi Hammer was a phone launched some months ago with the promise of be a highly durable smartphone, and of course we’ve put this promise to test.
While Hammer was a mid-range focused on resistance and toughness, the Hammer S seems to bring a more flagship’s appeal as the “More than just a upgrade” slogan should describe. For now these are all the details, but we’ll be waiting for more soon, Meanwhile let your bets and prospects for the new device!
Galaxy S6 variations.
Зато дешевле на порядок. It’s cheaper.
They’ve promised too much on the Iron, they’re doing unconventional things on the 02, now they’re teasing another phone that is more than an upgrade (meaning more development time).
I hope they remember small stuff like the eMax and its camera.
I thought it was ulefone Be Touch 2!
The render is off, on the right the back looks curved like on the MI Note but on the left it’s flat.Would prefer curved, it would give it a more svelte feel and be less Apple-esque.
If they also work on shrinking the lower and upper bezels ,even if by just 2-3 mm in total ,they could have a nice looking device. Shove a Helio x20 with 3GB of RAM in it and it’s all good- too bad it’s too early for that.
Edit: there is a better pic floating around but the specs listed by some are not exciting with 720p and MT6735 https://blogdotefoxshopdotcom.files.wordpress.com/2015/07/image_20150714121625.png
720p and 6735, if it’s 5″ device, it’s perfectly fine. I wish there’s still decent 5″ device. Recent devices use 5.5″ display which is too big for me. I’m using OnePlus
Wowaweewaa…
(*Sarcasm*) I’m just struggling to get excited about a USB-C Connector! Loads of Chinese companies will keep coming out with this same info as if it deserves a silly amount of Hype! It’s hardly a fundamental part of a smartphone now is it?
My initial reaction summed up nicely! Probably the least important spec to be advertising.
im still excited about it 😀
no more wrong sides when connecting 😀
Trouble is with current technology everything has already been done to death so there really isn’t much left to distinguish one phone over another. Since this is the latest ‘thing’ I’m sure we are gonna see a lot more of this type of advertising in the coming months. Personally I couldn’t care less what type of charging port it has as long as it works!

I think the above renders is based on the other image floating arround (the one you showed)
I believe there is a curved back on the sides. We’ll wait and see I guess.
this better be cheap !
Who cares about USB-C? What exact benefit is anyone gonna get from having a phone that spots USB-C?
Not much, but still a nice feature.
Not enough for Umi or any manufacturer (cough *OP* cough) to make noise about it.
-Up to 3.1 usb speed data transfer
-high definition display mirroring 4k video with next generation speed of HDMI, MHL etc and charge the phone at the same time with one single cable
-next generation of usb port will be ubiquitos in every laptop and desktop as standard
-tougher port than micro usb
and basically it will be the charging port of every smart device in one year from now, it’s like when we adopted micro sd and micro usb, it has useful benefit at least for next 10 years
Its one thing for USB-C to support all these features but it remains to be seen if they are going to implement all of them in the phone.
Mind you that you can still use USB 2.0 with the type-C port in which case its not of much use now. Correct me if I am wrong.
future proof, reversible
to many upgrades way to fast.buy now buy the upgraded phone next week …..
Umi Zero 2, Umi Hammer S… so many upgraded phones…
Innos D6000 also (supposedly) has USB type C connector. I’m still waiting though! Anyone hear/see any new info regarding the D6000M variant, supposedly with a different chip, less RAM, but much lower price? I want the same camera and build.
