JiaYu restructuring to become “New JiaYu”

JiaYu have responded to rumours about their demise to confirm that they will continue to trade and will join with partners to become a “New Jiayu”.

JiaYu is one of the older Chinese phone makers. The company started at around the same time as Zopo, but unlike the big Z , have mainly concentrated on the domestic market.

By focussing on Chinese fans it has allowed JiaYu to build a core fan group, but it has also meant slow growth for the brand. Slow growth and low profits are not a recipe for success in the crowded phone market.

Recently there were whispers that JiaYu were in trouble and might close their doors, but those rumours have been quashed today as JiaYu have responded with an official statement.

According to the open letter, JiaYu are restructuring and will see long-term partners Vanzo Communications and Truly Optoelectronics Co. Ltd become part of a larger parent company. The restructure will result in a “New Jiayu” that hopes to offer better quality and the continued development of innovative products.

So JiaYu are alive and kicking and seem to have a little more muscle than before, but what remains to be seen is the launch of a new device from the manufacturer to follow up the popular JiaYu S3. Keep tuned for more details.

    I love it. Battery lasts a day for me, camera is good, no lag. The only bad thing I can think are rear speakers.

    I take it as the best MT6752 until now, I have the Advanced version, and personally don’t feel that I have to change my phone anytime soon. The better about this phone is the growing community and development, we have great developers working in this phone too, so the future still great for it, also the Jiayu support until now was great, hope it continues to be.

      I would say it’s the best 6752 but only because it’s so cheap. For me the best 6752 I have used personally (and I have used the S3) is the Gionee Elife S7 but it costs almost twice as much for the same specs.

        Gionee’s phones usually are discounted about 6-7 months after releases around the time when the sub-brands get a hold of it (like Blu in the US).

There is nothing to be worry about, I would even say we should be happy that some big comapny joined Jiayu. This can mean more many invested in mobile phone so better support and faster development of new phones. Anyway we should keep calm and wait little bit to see if there will be any change in company policy.

I don’t know how good or bad this is, but I’m sick and tired of waiting for S4 while other great models pop out almost daily. Why don’t they speed up a bit? They really should, or else they will loose a bunch of loyal customers like me.

  I would ask to name some of the great models that pop up daily, that can compare with Jiayu’s attention to details, carefully chosen hardware, and huge fan base and support. Jiayu is a legend, and almost all Chinese brands wanted to compete with them, and to defeat them. So you shouldn’t loose faith in them: good things worth waiting 🙂

    Everyone who visits this site regulary, knows what those models are. I found out first S4 news like 5-6 months ago, and today we still don’t know anything more about it. By the time it’s released, it will have inferior hardware and will be just another smartphone. They will loose the battle in this highly competitive market if they don’t wake up soon.

      Yes I read about all recent models, but like I said: Jiayu makes some very good phones, superior in quality to phones produced by small manufacturers. Their biggest problem in my opinion is that heavy names like Meizu, Lenovo, ZTE, Huawei and other invaded their market with phones in Jiayu’s price range, and with equally or even better quality. I agree that it’s about time to release a new phone, but I actually appreciate that they don’t release a “flagship every month”, like I see recently. I really don’t like this trend, it confuses customers and it affects software support. Or maybe Jiayu will start to release their owns “flaghips-of-the-month”, to keep the pace 🙂

        It’s not about releasing a flagship every month, the only company that really does that is Elephone and their reputation has taken a hit because of it. But moving as slow as Jiayu does is not the answer either. You need to find a balance in between and keep a constant flow of information with the community.

    There arent models popping up daily but there are other phones coming out with better support and equal attention to details from companies like Meizu, Gionee, Oppo, Huawei, Lenovo, Xiaomi, ZTE, Siswoo and more. What all of these companies realized that Jiayu still hasn’t, is the Chinese market has matured and to stay in business you need to expand. You don’t even have to enter the west or Europe. Some of the biggest markets in the world are in Southeast Asia such as Indonesia, India, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam.

      The biggest problem with small manufacturers, like I would still consider Jiayu, is that big names like Huawei, Meizu, ZTE and Lenovo, not to mention Xiaomi and others, started producing low-cost phones, and very good ones. So yes, i would agree with your list, but please scratch Siswoo out of it, I don’t think they have proven enough. It’s my personal opinion of course, but I have yet to be impressed by a Siswoo phone, reading the reviews on the net. Jiayu on the other hand, created some pretty much legendary phones, but indeed the marked changed dramatically and they must consider producing phones with lower / aggressive prices.
      In my opinion the increased competition in the Chinese market caused a drop in quality. I feel like 4-5 years ago, when the market was full of low to medium quality phones, with very poor software support. Elephone, Ulephone, Dodgee, even Umi and many others started those aggressive pre-order campains, those one-per-month phone launches, and started to cheat a bit on components (under-sized batteries, wrong camera sensors / resolutions, even fake finger print sensors). What can Jiayu do? This is not a loyal competition you know. Probably they should start lying about their hardware too. Hopefully the new investors will bring Jiayu to a new start.
      And as far as I know, Jiayu has European channels for a long time (Italy, Spain, Germany, etc).

        That wasn’t an attack on Jiayu, which I know their fans are very loyal and diehard as evident by your comment. They make some very good phones. In my opinion Siswoo is one of the most exciting of the new brands to watch for, and companies like Jiayu should be very worried over brands like that.
        What can Jiayu do? They need to improve their timelines for releasing new products. Look at any Jiayu store here and see how many people ask about the F2. It has been over a year and half since the F1 was released with little to no word if an F2 will ever come out. That kind of delay puts many new customers off from what has been a very good brand in terms of quality and performance.
        Outside of China the Jiayu brand name is for the most part unheard of, it doesnt come close to the names mentioned above. And that includes newcomer Siswoo who have an established footprint in several European cities. There is a difference between selling a few thousand units in Europe and having an official presence there. But Europe isn’t even all that important to the success of Chinese phones, the rest of Asia is. I work in and travel to every major Asian city and the first thing I do is check out the local cell phone markets (every country has them). Jiayu is a brand I have only seen sold in two places outside China, both of them related to China (HK and Taiwan). I have even seen Ulefone and Elphone being sold in some markets. That’s Jiayu’s biggest problem, they operate at a snails pace. The S3 is one of my favorite phones available but under the old Jiayu model we wouldn’t see an S4 until 2017.

        Hey Balco, there is a F2 available, btw not impressed the users so far. They’ve did everything right on the phone, but the MT6582 killed it, and was announced during the hype of new 6752/32 SoC’s so far at least MT6592 would be better, while considering the price MT6732 would been possible (there is 16GB, 2GB Ram and even 4G for the interested ones) While they focuses in not spamming flagships everyday, their timeline was slow, and also last year their phones cost more than 200, the Jiayu G6 debuted in the market for $300+ lol The S3 was the answer for the change, but still room for improvement.
        Ps: Judging by how people expect for this S4, and how claims to be a legend, they have in their hands a big opportunity to meet the expectations if launch something with appeal for most of users tastes.

        The S3 was a near excellent phone, and they have a golden opportunity to build off the hype and success of that phone. It was the first Jiayu phone that actually got media attention in the west. But they can’t sit back and wait a year before announcing an S4, they need to start around the 6 month mark with promotion for a new device and “leaks”.

I love my Jiayu S3 I have the best photographs from the camera and the battery is just amazing for my use. The only complaint for me is the lack of understanding how to use some of the features the phone offers. Like how to transfer from the phone to the SD card. I am glad that Jiayu will be around and I would love to see more people helping to promote this company
