If there’s one thing OnePlus could change about how its phones are sold, it is surely the invite system. It might look like a great concept at first to keep supply streamlined, but then there’s an a more powerful opposite reaction among buyers.
According to OnePlus, invites will be a lot easier to get hold of compared to last year. Also, the company is preparing to start with an exponentially larger inventory — more than 30 times of what they did with the OnePlus One.
Moreover, there’ll also be a “reservation list” this time round, which will hopefully save potential buyers from taking part in silly contests. From what we make of it, this will make the invite system largely an FCFS (First Come First Serve) thing besides the obvious preferences for forum old-timers and the usual contest winners.
About shareable invites: if you remember, OnePlus sent out invites to be shared with other hopefuls if you bought a OnePlus One. It’ll be the same way this time round too, with the difference being in the fact that these shareable invites will make it to your inbox much sooner.
Does this make the OnePlus 2 better for you? Do share your thoughts in this week’s open thread.
OPO! You are not invited!
Excuse me but, fuck off OP2
SD810 is really a turn off.
You are going to release a new phone and you are still stuck with that lame old invite system which allows resellers to sell your phones at an inflated rate.
No thanks OnePlus, I skipped OP1 and hopefully I will skip this one too. You can take your invite and shov…..
This is relevant to my interest…
OIS ? …..
Since this phone has no USP they are trying anything to make it sound appealing. The invite system is a shit idea, period.
OnePlus take your invite system and shove it.
I feel pity for those stuck on the hype train.
By the mere fact that we are commenting here, proves it all that their marketing team is working.
They just dont seem to get it. Just the word ‘invite’ conjurs up negative feelings for many when it comes to this brand. Just do what every other company does and hold flash sales the first few months until you can make the phones in bulk for a cheaper price. It accomplishes the same goal without making customers jump through hoops and with less backlash.
