After announcing the updated Mi TV 2S — a TV that’s likely more powerful than your smartphone if you haven’t bought one this year — Xiaomi have announced their latest smart home product.
The device is known as the Mi Water Purifier, and it is used to convert tap water into consumable drinking water. The Mi Water Purifier uses the Reverse Osmosis (RO) process, and “is super compact, shows real-time water quality, and reminds you on your smartphone when it’s time to replace the filter” according to Xiaomi.
The device is priced at 1299 Yuan, and looks like its going to be China-only for now (although Hugo Barra says he wants to get it to India ‘soon’). The Water Purifier extends Xiaomi’s range of smart home products which includes the recently announced Smart Scale, Smart Sockets and more.
The device will also pair with your smartphone and feed realtime data about the water purity. Take a look at the images below to get a better idea about the Mi Water Purifier.
this shit’s getting ridiculous….
still waiting for the toilet paper dispenser that sends you a text when you need to replace the roll.
I already imagine my wife at the office saying:
“my husband must be home and he’s probably taking a big sh*t since he’s out of paper already!”
In a country where you cannot drink water straight from the tap and where water has a distinct chemical (purifying) taste this so-called shit is a life saver.
Also knowing when to replace the filter is a good move.
Silly for us in the West. But in the East and the South this is a nifty bit of hardware for a good price.

Seems like instead of trying to be the Apple of the East they are trying to be the next Samsung, LG or Sony.
because Apple is too mainstream
