UBRO are a new up and coming phone maker who have the novel idea to release complete component costs of their devices to help inform customers of their buying choice.
We’ve seen 3rd party companies tear down a phone and price up the cost of each component to give us a general idea of the actual unit cost of a phone, but we have never seen a phone maker release the information freely.
After announcing their first smartphone, the UBRO M1, UBRO now say that they will release the BOM (Bill of material) for the phone. A BOM is the list of the parts and components of a product and can be used to work out the cost of a device.
Gizchina News of the week
It’s an interesting strategy for the young phone maker and we’ll be interested to see how it pays off once customers know exactly what they are paying for. UBRO say that they hope the release of the BOM will allow customers to understand the price, performance of their phones and appreciate the added suite of UBRO applications that have been developed for use with their phones.
As for their first phone, the UBRO M1 is a 5-inch HD model with 2GB RAM, 16GB internal memory and 64bit MT6735 chipset on board. They also land to launch an M1 Mini (which oddly enough is still a 5-inch phone) and M1 Pro with larger 5.5-inch FHD display.

Hasn’t LETV released their BOM already?
Anyway, this device is very interesting, yet has many, many doubts.
they claim amazing build with dual glass and metal, OIS and Sony IMX214.
on their website it seems very half baked. a lot of spelling mistakes (SONNY, 1.3 instead of 13 mega pixels, SHARP OIS?), a lot empty parts still with LOREM IPSUM from the wordpress template…. Not very promising.
The most interesting thing for me here is the OIS. only the IUNI U3 and LG G3 have OIS and a fairly cheap price, and this one claims to be half the price. It’s also odd that this is not mentioned and described very clearly on their website, and on PANDAWILL, GEEKBUYING etc., some mention it and some don’t.
If it has OIS and works ok then this is the steal of the century. although realistically, basic OIS should not cost much, and the rest of the specs are pretty much similar to current 110$~ phones, so it should be possible, but at this point it’s quite a gamble.
It is very close but the Slots for the SIM cards don’t match. So yes it is a similar platform or an evolution of the old one…. But not exactly the same…
They probably use the same ODM, its not a 1:1 clone but it is the same body style and design language. They make minor changes to differentiate them.
I just read on XDA forum that Blackview will bring out an updated version of the Blackview Omega, called Blackview Omega Plus also with MTK6735
Speaker location and slots are diffrent. LED flash is to side, not below of the cam. Dimensions are also diffrent.
Very similar (like 90% of the phones in the market…) but not the same.
Omega Pro maybe, but quite different spec.
There is an Omega Pro, looks very similar but generally better spec. Samsung instead of Sony camera (could go either way). Bargain presale $99 event.
LeTV, has release their BOM indeed. They didn’t lie about the specs. In fact on their presentation they show Apple Samsung, etc BOMs. But it was only on their presentation. A excel file would be nice 🙂
