Leaked photos this month showed a new version of the Xiaomi Mi Band with added heart rate monitor, now a post today suggests the new Xiaomi wearable could be released tomorrow.
12 months ago Xiaomi launched the Mi4 along with their first wearable, the basic but useable Mi Band. The Mi Band sold very well thanks to the low-cost and unbeatable battery life of around 30 days. Although undoubtedly good, there are some features we would have like to see and they might show up on the Mi Band 2.
According to a new post by Xiaomi we can expect a Mi Band related announcement tomorrow, 22nd July. The teaser simply shows a Mi Band the the letter ‘W’. The ‘W’ could simply stand for ‘wear’ or ‘wearable’ but might also give a clue to ‘watch’ and the ability to tell the time on the new bracelet.
It seems likely thought that a heart rate monitor will be part of the design and we are likely to see a Mi Band App update launch alongside the second generation product. Keep posted for more news.
I can’t wait to see how it will be priced on re-sellers.

If it is a heart rate monitor it would be great if other apps such as runkeeper could access it while I’m running.
Sometime ago Xiaomi opened it’s API, so it’s very possible in near future 🙂
