Huawei sells 48 million smartphones in H1 2015, outpaces Xiaomi

Huawei seems to be on a roll these days, and with its upcoming Nexus smartphone with Google on the horizon, the company’s becoming a “Nexus” of wealth in the smartphone market.

The company reported yesterday that it sold 48.2 million smartphones in the first six months of 2015, with a 39% product increase and an 87% revenue increase from a year ago. The company’s greatest growth came from China, where Huawei doubled its shipments, and from Italy and Spain, not to mention the Middle East, Africa, and Europe. Huawei is expected to sell 100 million smartphones by year’s end, an impressive feat indeed.

48.2 million smartphones is an impressive number for Huawei, who has now outsold Xiaomi in smartphone sales for the H1 2015. Xiaomi sold 34.2 million smartphones, and many predicted that the company would overtake Samsung in global sales. As Samsung has been getting crushed in mid-end to low-end sales by Chinese manufacturers, and Xiaomi is learning as of late, the smartphone and mobile sales market is unpredictable. There are times when, no matter how great the device, consumer preference changes and customer needs change.

Some are forecasting that Huawei can overtake Xiaomi in China if it continues its upward trend, but Huawei’s got its sights set on the US with the upcoming Huawei Nexus.

impressive numbers indeed, and with their Nexus line they will grow more too, but after that there’s no more scalability of their business.
from the other side, Xiaomi numbers are still more impressive for their scalability.
Some people have been mocked their numbers without even considering two huge factors:
lost of sales of their mid and top tiers due to Qualcomm debacle and more important the few markets where they are working.
business wise i would be more impressed by Xiaomi numbers rather than Huawei ones (even if they are still quite impressive)
no fanboysm here is meant, im speaking of numbers here, i don’t care who makes better phones.
i had a penny to invest i would put it on xiaomi

Big players always wins .
They have the power to operate in huge amount of markets ,
So, one way or another they make their products sell well .
I am very optimistic about the future of Huawei .

At P8’s launch event Huawei listed 31 countries to be first to get it. I don’t know exact count of the countries they are in the smartphone business.
For Xiaomi fingers of the two hands more than enough still. They are soooo slowly entering the new markets. Seems like they put all the responsibility of overseas expansion over Hugo Barra’s shoulders and he is overwhelming under pressure.
Xiaomi supposed to enter 10 new markets in 2014 but they did manage only half of them til previous month. Probably they aren’t going anywhere this year after Brazil.
