Pipo X1 mini PC will run Windows 10: First pictures

Pipo is a prolific maker from China, best known for its affordable tablets. Earlier today, we got our eyes on the first photos of the upcoming Pipo X1 mini PC.

As you might know already, a lot of Chinese makers are shifting their focus to Windows OS from Android. Pipo is surely one of them, and the upcoming Pipo X1 will extend the list.

The Pipo X1 will have the Intel Z3735F CPU, same as the Intel Compute Stick. In fact, a lot of other specifications of the X1 are identical to the Compute Stick. Here is what the Pipo X1 will have besides the aforementioned CPU.

Pipo X1 specifications

  • Intel Z3735F CPU
  • 2GB RAM
  • 32GB ROM
  • microSD slot
  • Ports: one microUSB, one full size USB, and another microUSB for power
  • WiFi b/g/n
  • Dimensions: 114 x 34.5 x 13.9 mm
  • Weight: 40g

In fact, the specifications also resemble the MeeGo Pad T01’s which we’ve reviewed in the past.

The X1 will run Windows 10 out of the box. In addition to that, the device will also have the capability to dual-boot Windows and Android. Would you consider a mini PC such as this one for a secondary/tertiary home PC?

Except Android is faster, cheaper, and has an interface better suited for a television.

      • July 24, 2015

That’s not exactly true. Windows 8.1 already ran smoother than Android on the Z3735F and the UI is fine on a TV as well with increased DPI and a proper Air-Mouse.

I have Meego Stick with same spec as this, it struggles while playing my 720p hi10 anime videos. On the other hand, my OnePlus One can handle it smoothly. So, regardless the OS, if the CPU is underpowered, then it’s useless. It works fine as a browser though, as long as you open reasonable amount of tabs.

I own the Ainol Mini PC and it plays 4k videos smooth on a 1080p TV. The issue on your stick is the insufficient cooling. Might be a problem with the Pipo one too.

it could be, since the stick is so small. but nevertheless, using that CPU inside a stick without proper cooling is just not feasible, no matter the brand.

Well, there are ways to cool it properly or at least make it run smooth. Anyway, knowing Pipo they probably didn’t take the appropriate measures, so you are right.

dude, i watch FHD h264 on Neken N6 with MTK6589T.
it’s not problem with Z3735F, it is something else.
power of that SoC is more then enough for 4k video, and i know a lot tablets with same SoC which works very good (with no flows)…did not try streaming videos with some of them, but did watch one that had on card.

you watched FHD h264 on an MTK6589T, which has nothing to do with Z3735F at all. why even mention it?? do you even have any device with Z3735F and tried to watch FHD movie on it? Also FHD means nothing if the bitrate is low like those movies encoded by Yify.

do you even know what MTK6589T is?
i don’t have device with this SoC, but i have eyes, and i have youtube, i can read an watch…
so, this Atom is 5x better then this old MTK.
and it does work very well with many tablets!

I’m seriously almost considering one of these with Windows 10 to replace my aging parents desktop

It’ll be so much quieter and smaller, they’ll love it

Fabulous. The proof will be in the Windows 10 pudding, let’s wait and see. Otherwise this is a Yes for me. Any idea on price?

Sounds awesome! after X7, then X8, now X1! I wish that the overall quality will be the same: good 🙂 Any ETA?

stick is stupid, because it have not additional usb and ethernet, i’d prefer the small box x7

UMM, I don’t understand your statement. I own a Pipo X7s and X8 (which are perfect and delightful) and this new stick is *almost* the same, except Ethernet. If you need extra USB and Ethernet, you can easily buy a USB hub-Ethernet combo for a ridiculous price, and then have it all, can’t you?

I prefer a box over a stick. Something like Beelink Pocket P1.
