Vivo have confirmed a lower than normal price for their Vivo Y33 smartphone with a RRP of 1198 Yuan ($192).
Vivo aren’t known for being a low-cost phone maker, but they do want to dabble in the exciting entry-level market and have just announced the pricing of their Vivo Y33 smartphone.
Costing 1198 Yuan in China, the Vivo Y33 does seem a little overpriced in comparison to Xiaomi’s or Meizu’s offerings, but there are the added features of high quality audio and a slimmer and more stylish appearance.
As for the hardware the Vivo Y33 will have a 4.7-inch HD IPS display, 8 mega-pixel main camera, 5 mega-pixel rear, 2200mAh battery, dual SIM, and 1GB RAM and 8GB memory. The amount of RAM is the real killer of an otherwise good looking budget option.
The Y33 will ship with FunTouch based on Android 5.0 and is said to look more or less identical to the Vivo X5 Pro. No word on an Indian or European launch yet, but there is the possibility.

I usually expect Vivo’s phones to be a little more expensive than their counterparts but this is a little bit much. Considering in the international market this will sell for as much as $250 with only 1GB of RAM and a small battery. Add another gig of RAM and it’s not a bad deal, still overpriced for many but sometimes it’s worth it to pay for the quality of a brand like Vivo.
I agree, once you’ve held a Vivo phone you know its a quality device with above average build quality and is worth paying a little bit more for, with the emphasis on the ‘little’. Add an extra GB RAM and drop the price by $20-30 and it would be an excellent phone, especially for someone who places an emphasis on sound quality too.
Given my experience with Vivo X5Pro. The build quality is definitely above average or even good. However, the software optimization is another dealbreaker.
