Latest ZTE V5 series phone will have a Snapdragon SoC

Xiaomi, for reasons known to the makers themselves, has very clearly moved away from MediaTek… only to get criticized. It seems as though other Chinese maker too are keen on shipping their phones with Qualcomm SoCs, and ZTE seems to be one of them.

A teaser from the company just confirmed that the upcoming ZTE V5 series flagship would have a Snapdragon SoC beating inside its chassis. Besides that, the teaser also went on to vaguely mention about the device having a large battery and plenty storage… without giving any details whatsoever.

You’ll have seen how ZTE took a dig at compatriot Meizu, mocking the latter’s invite for the m2 event. If anything, one would assume that the upcoming ZTE V5 phone will be a direct competitor to the Meizu m2… which is why, it is expected to be priced at around the US$160 / 1000 Yuan mark.

The device will have a Gionee Elife E8-esque design with a metal body and fingerprint scanner on the rear, right below the camera. The phone will also run a custom version of Android 5.1 Lollipop.

Besides the usual goodies, ZTE also teased about the fact the the phone will offer network support for all three Chinese carriers — China Mobile, Telecom and Unicom.

You know why these soc are called snapdragon?? Because they can Breath FIRE like a dragon that snapped!!!

They will cut some corners to make it cheap. Otherwise metal body and fingerprint would make it more expensive than 1000 yuan.
Coolpad failed to deliver it. I will be surprised if ZTE manage to do that.

Expect Snapdragon 615/620 for this phone at it’s best . (Its better than 6753 ) in my opinion but worse than 6752

  I would take a 6753 over a 615 any day. On paper the 615 is better but it suffers from the same problems as the 810, poor design results in poor performance and throttling/overheating.

    I tried the new nubia mini on sd615 and it performs actually good – no throttling over the 5 hour period i used it the yu yureka tho easilly gets to 70 temp man using the exact same SoC

      I used it on the Mi4i and it was up and down. For games it was horrible, I actually had to put it down thats how hot it got. For everday tasks it was usable.

      I second that, the missus has a Z9 Mini and has no issues with performance/overheating. Neither does the SD810 Z9 Max, it gets no warmer than my old HTC One M7 – probably to do with the chassis design.

        Even that this is maybe the first public device on sd810
        it is one of the coolest – I found out about this only 2 days ago when i got a sample
        it uses passive cooling and a graphite board underneath the mobo …. Oneplus say that they went even further and made “revolutionary cooling design” lol

I know we all here have some concerns about the pricing of certain devices. Thats what, maybe drove us here in the firts place, to get better bang for the buck and risk custumer service. Because you have to admit that a lot of the pricing in the big brands is to deal with payroll of hundreds of custumer service, and software optimization for their rather similar devices. i tend to tinhk that if some one gave the programer at Apple Green flag to deal with a doogee DG550 what a beast would come out of there, then again is all in software optimization for 1 specific device, you get my point.
As for myself, i come here to survey for nice devices at a reasonable Price, and for a device that migth end up falling and bricking (i.e. Samsung, IPhone, Htc, LG, Sony, all well over $500.00) i wised up and came to the conclusión this kind of devise shoul not cost me more tan $200.00 as it will evaporate in less tan a year with the current trend and be no longer relevant.
So, I have bought 3 ECOO AURORAs, 2 e04 2gb, for sister and father, and 1 3gb wich is my daily driver….
But Perfect to me WOULD be: on the same looking Aurora device:
1. Camera with better software to control the camera output, maybe OIS (or not, price wise), 2. LED notification with 2 colors (with White maybe, being able to serve as selfie complement)
3. 4400+mah Battery,
4. The SAME place of the fingerprint-reader IN THE FRONT, but increase the size up to a meizu mx5 home button size for it, (i DO like the swaping thing, i feel it is more secure) and 5. An update to the android that would let the backgroung of the appDrawer to be transparent.!!!
ufff what a machine would that be!!!!… and i thit it would be very nice to ask $ 195.99 for it at this times… but that is just my guess.

Well it seems that the amazing MT6752 as been discontinued, that means Qualcomm has a big opportunity to take the budget phones back from MediaTek even with their shitty 64bits SoCs.

if this is priced right, than it could be good. if its like $320 or less, we got a real competitor.
