The phone that was on many of our lips has finally launched, so has the wait for the OnePlus 2 been worth it? Learn the full specs for the new flagship killer here.
With leaked images and video, and OnePlus releasing partial specifications for their latest device ahead of the VR launch earlier, there really wasn’t much left for OnePlus fans to wait for and learn.
Still there were some surprising additions and omissions of the OnePlus 2 that we learnt during the launch.
In standard form the OnePlus 2 will ship with a Sandstone Black rear panel. There won’t be a white baby skin version available off the shelf, but wooden style swap covers will finally be making their way on to the phone. I have to say that the odd styling doesn’t look quite as bad when those wooden covers are attached in place too.
Dimensions of the OnePlus 2 are smaller than the original OPO at 151.8 x 74.9 x 9.85mm. With a weight of 175g and a thickness of 9.85mm the OPT isn’t the lightest nor thinnest phone on the market, but that recoverable rear cover does add to the thickness as does the 3300mAh battery. Unfortunately the battery is non user replaceable and, although quite a thick phone, OnePlus didn’t manage to find space of fast charging, wireless charging, NFC or a SD card slot.
Moving on the display on the OnePlus 2 is a Corning Gorilla Glass 5.5-inch panel running a FHD resolution of 1920 x 1080. A good choice in our opinion. Above the display is a 5 mega-pixel distortion free camera and below a physical home button with in-built fingerprint scanner.
Gizchina News of the week
Dual speakers are found in the base of the phone as is USB Type C, while the rear is home to a 13 mega-pixel main camera. The rear camera boast OIS, dual LED flash and 6 lenses for reduced distortion and color aberration. The rear camera supports 4K video and 720p slow motion at 120fps. The 13 megapixel shooter also boast an F2.0 aperture and super fast laser autofocus.

Under the hood there are very few shocks. Qualcomm have supplied a 64bit Snapdragon 810 chipset running at an under clocked 1.8Ghz and Adreno 430 GPU. There is 3-4GB RAM, options for either 64GB or 16GB memory, and dual SIM.
Supported bands for the OnePlus 2 (international model) are;
- US – GSM: 850, 900, 1800, 1900MHz; WCDMA: Bands: 1/2/4/5/8; FDD-LTE: Bands: 1/2/4/5/7/8/12/17
- EU/India – GSM: 850, 900, 1800, 1900MHz; WCDMA: Bands: 1/2/5/8; FDD-LTE: Bands: 1/3/5/7/8/20
The “Flagship Killer” also comes with dual-band WIFI, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS.
As you are all probably aware the OnePlus 2 comes with OnePlus’s own Android ROM named OxygenOS. The system is based on Android 5.1.1 and looks clean and stylish, but not to far removed from a standard Android install.
You are all also probably be aware that to buy the OnePlus 2 you are going to need an invite. The first invites will begin on the 11th August and phones will cost $389 for the 4GB RAM 64GB memory version. A $329 3GB RAM 16GB memory model will be also launched but at a later date.
So that’s the OnePlus 2. Now that it is official what do you think of the phone? Is it everything you hoped? Are you upset for the lack of NFC, SD and fast charging? Will you buy one? Let us know in the comments below.
… and a thickness of 9.85mm – DAAAAAAMN! I just can’t understand why the hell they made so huge top and buttom borders with this fatness. They should learn to make compacts from mi4i

That`s thick brother 😀
I don`t mind though, using a 9mm phone with a rubber cover, so thickness is around 10-11mm and it feels fine. It`s a man’s phone, not 6-7mm girly.
You can use a 4mm bumper if you like) But IMHO this is ain’t the flagship killer specs
It would had been a flagship killer if it was priced 350$ for the 64GB.
And honestly: 16GB phones without SD cards should die!
Well when Apple discontinued to make 16Gb models other brands will go the same line to minimum 32Gb storage)))
You know that the 64 gig version costs like 380 bucks… Thats 30 dollars more that you are willing to pay lol… And look at the price diference of another brands ( Apple, Samsung etc)

At that price bra it is. You can`t have top of the line specs and quality build for much less, buy the Iphone 6+ or Samsung S6 Edge for 600$ if you want, for me at 349$ that is a flagship killer.
Can you just tell what flagships been killed with first model? What Brands suffered from Oneplus sales? Oneplus never changed the game of the mobile world. Most of price drops been made by B/C brands and Xiaomi, Meizu, Lenovo. Not the OPO. And 1st echelon flagships don’t give a fck of the overhyped mistrust company) And as you said, it’s only a flagship killer for you) I might think if you have a spare 1K bucks you would never bought Oneplus Two, it is a flagship for most with a low budget and big wants)
totally dont agree with you.. but we all have our own opinions ( and it seems u are very angry about the first iteration of the device)
I’m not angry at all, try to read my post with the “)” that i use. First OPO been great, they spoiled it with back swaps, no fastcharge and other things that #neversettle PR team promised of) But second is a average phone. Just Full HD, no SD again, no NFC, no Fastcharge, no unique new features, except the Apple minded modes toggle. That is what i can’t call a flagship, and even a flagship killer. By the end of the year most of OnePlus2 specs will be avarage. I hope some big player will announce new phones in a couple of months
What dont you argee with? Xiaomi, Meizu and Lenovo have all been offering flagship phones at this price range long before OP even existed.
Yes they did and they were really flawed just like the OpO was but clear to be from all the phones i got last year with the opo i had perhaps the best experience (the only flaws were camera related which were fixed…..3 months ago -_-) i really liked the experience i got from it
They were flawed?? How exactly? The Mi3 was one of the best flagships every released for it’s time.
I loved the mi3 because if its software but it had lots of bugs some battery problems even heatup on sd800 wich didnt happen on my g2 and at launch the camera wasnt optimized at all
MIUI has always run a little hotter than other UI’s. It was the same with the Mi4 and SD801. But there are thousands of forum posts about issues with the G2 heating up as well as having battery issues and numerous software bugs. No pone is immune to software bugs, some are better at managing them than other but every phone suffers from them. I never had any issues with the camera on the Mi3.
Nope, if I had 1k i would never spend it on a phone, hell I would never spend more than 300$, simply can`t justify it.

This man like his phones like he likes his woman, thin. 🙂
