The Smartisan T1 is among the few phones launched in China that you can differentiate from the crop of other devices without issue. The T1 doesn’t just have an unusual design, but it also runs a custom Android based OS called Smartisan OS.
The very phone now seems to be on its way to the American market. What suggests that is the fact that the T1 was spotted at the FCC a while back, which could mean only one thing.
It isn’t the most powerful phone with a Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB RAM, 32GB ROM and a 5-inch 1920 x 1080p display, but as mentioned before there’s certainly a lot that’s plays for the T1 including a very well thought-out OS.
Gizchina News of the week
As Liliputing notes, Smartisan are either contemplating a US launch or have already decided on it. Surprisingly enough, there have been no leaks or rumours about the US launch yet. Nonetheless, the coming weeks should tell us more!

I’ve never met anyone who has this phone, despite living in China. The minimal times I’ve played with it in Sundan Stores in Shenzhen it seems really well built, solid but heavy and an interesting custom skin. I don’t think Americans or Europeans would care much for it due to the lack of customisation within the OS itself.
Anyone have this or know someone who has? I would like to know if build quality stands the test of time like my Mi3 did and my IUNI U3 hasn’t and if the added audio chip enhances the experience.
I’ve been using Smartisan T1 for almost a year. I like it. build quality is absolutly good. due to the offical calms, the Smartisan T2 is mostlikly coming in the US (and maybe also Japan) early 2016.
Judging by the picture here (I have no experience with this brand/phone) it looks like the Gionee Elife E6, which is a good thing. That was a simple but striking looking phone.
It feels a bit brick-like in person but I still think its a really nice, simple and symmetrically designed phone. Smartisan outsourced the design to a company (Ammunition) lead by a former senior designer at Apple but i’ve never known or seen anyone using it. The custom skin is cool and simple but looks dated now everything has moved away from the skeuomorphic (however its spelt) look.
I actually like this look on phones, its simple but still elegant without being over the top. Will keep my eye on it if the price comes down.
It has been at 2000RMB in China recently on some big sites but officially here its 2480RMB. At 2000 I was considering one but now these sites have gone back up to 2480, I will probably get a Mi4 or Mi Note.
