Oukitel U6 (aka the dual-display phone) gets hands-on treatment

Oukitel is on quite a roll this year. After having announced the U8 (review), U9, U10 and the U2, the rising smartphone maker also made official the U6. Unlike the other phones from Oukitel, the U6 boasts a dual-display setup with one of the displays being e-ink.

The front of the dual screen U6 has a 5-inch 720p display, whereas the rear features a 4.7-inch e-ink panel. E-ink panels, if you aren’t aware, hardly consume any power and are a lot easier on the eyes compared to traditional displays. This makes e-ink panels suitable for activities such as reading, etc.

Design wise, the U6 is quite similar to the iPhone. From the hands on video below, you can tell that the phone appears to be a little on the thicker side. The video also appears to be fast-forwarded (at least some sections of it), so the phone might actually not be as fast as it appears to be, at least not at the moment.

Also seen are dual slots (SIM + microSD?) and an IR blaster on the top.

This is a sexy phone. I love how theres not a scrap of logo on the thing, I hope that isnt just because its a prototype.

5 inch ( yes 720p is quite enough for me for a 5 inch device ), e-ink, this is a nice one … something worth buying
