Doogee using the same factory as OnePlus for wooden covers

While a OnePlus bamboo cover costs $50, the Complete Doogee F3 with wooden rear made at the same factory costs only $160!

If you have been patiently waiting for the launch of the Doogee F3 then you will have followed news about the 3 versions of the phone, and the option to go for a flagship 3GB model with wooden rear panel.

Doogee today have giving us more details about their wooden backed F3 revealing that they are using the same factory as OnePlus to have Bamboo and Ebony rear panels made for the F3 smartphone.

The Doogee F3 measures in at a slick 6.8mm with an option to buy a 2GB Glass backed model for $149.99 or a 3GB RAM Wooden version for $169.99. There is also a $159.99 model planned too.

Specifications for the phone include a super fast auto focus 13 mega-pixel rear camera from Samsung, Android 5.1, Mediatek MT6735 chipset and either a 720p HD or 1080pFHD panel depending on which version of the phone you end up buying. It is also rumoured that a Snapdragon 810 version of the Doogee F3 will launch in September.

So in actuality the back covers probably cost about $5 or less to make and OP is selling them at around a 900% markup. Everyone always says the biggest profits are in accessories.

  i don’t think so, what i just know is that oneplus 1 sold their wood cover with 600 RMB in China, but each cover cost the amount you know. so it’s trusted that DOOGEE released this F3 specially to improve their brand 🙂

    600 RMB? Thats is $96 us. You expect people to believe that a wooden cover with a couple dollars worth of actual wood costs $96 to make? Or I am misunderstanding you? If that was the case OP would be taking a loss with everyone they sell and Doogee would be facing dramatic losses on a phone that costs $160.
    And the word Doogee and trusted in the same sentence is absolutely hilarious. That company can’t be trusted for anything, they lie about specs with each new phone. Personally I would love to see them do good, it only helps the industry. I wouldnt recommend them to anyone.

      Seems like dooggee also started spamming here. The commenters above(Jade Belle, Tony Lee, Rosalia) are praising the company in every doogee related article. They must be doogee employees.

For those who want a wooden cover with limited budget, DOOGEE F3 surely is a good choice . Same nice covers as Oneplus 2

isnt wood weaker than glass ?? or maybe more susceptible to fire ?
what if , in any case , there’s a fire and the wooden cover catches it ? OR if its really smashed bad and the wooden cover breaks (ofc , same can be said of glass … but im curious about wood being used)
so , any experts here to add to our knowledge pool ?

  Real bamboo has a tensile strength that matches steel. It has a compression strength hire than concrete and brick. In Southeast Asian is it used for everything from ladders to scaffolding and even to reinforce concrete in buildings.
  If these covers are real bamboo they will be very durable and hold up to whatever you throw at it or however much you drop it. As for fire, if it is made in a high quality factory it will be treated with a fireproof primer. Knowing Doogee I put very little faith that these are the same as Oneplus and that they are using real bamboo. I expect it’s mostly composite woods mixed with plastics made to look like bamboo.

      I have been up for 29 hours straight working on a project for a client. Gizchina, coffee and cigars are the only things keeping me awake haha. My grammar is probably terrible right now!

It will really have MT6735? That would be disappointing. I was expecting an MT6753. If the F3 has only the quadcore version, I will probably get the Zopo Speed 7 instead.
But first of all, lets wait for the reviews…

  There really is very little performance difference between the 35 and 53. The 53 has a slight edge but most people will never notice it. What the 53 does offer is world mode coverage for networks like CDMA2000.

    AFAIK the MT6753 has double performance in both CPU and GPU. Everyone can notice it. The difference should be same like MT6582 and MT6592. Since I had both, I know the performance difference is very big.
    And the world mode LTE is a feature of both these chipsets. So I hope the article has it wrong and it really comes with MT6753. Since MT6735 only supports display resolutions up to 1280×720, then at least in the PRO model with FHD display there should be the more powerful chipset.

      Double the performance? You are sadly mistaken if you really believe that. Double the cores doesn’t equate to double the performance. It does offer better performance but it is nowhere close to double it. Normally I wont turn to benchmarks but look at their Geekbench Scores in singe core performance they are dead even, in multicore the 53 has a slight advantage

        I don’t care about benchmarks that much. I have a personal experience between 2 MediaTek chipsets with identical 4-cores and 8-cores. The performance difference was huge. So I would expect ir will be the same here.
        For example the benchmark can not catch the situation when the operating system itself is using full capacity of 4 cores. On a 4-core CPU you would end up with a non responsive phone but one a 8-core phone you still have 50% of computing power free which makes the phone run smoothly. That is my experience.

        I usually dont care about benchmarks either I think most of the time they don’t tell you a thing about actual performance. The 6592 was just a better overall chip than the 6582 you used before. It had little to do with the cores.
        So because you once had an octacore chip that performed better than a quad core that means that will always be the case? Compare the MT6592 (Octacore) with the SD801(quadcore) and tell me which is a faster CPU. The problem is Android doesn’t behave the way you think it does. Most programs in Android will never take advantage of all 8 cores, and often will never use more than 4. Octacore can be beneficial especially in a big.LITTLE setup where it has 4 low power cores and 4 high performance cores. In this setup it uses the low power cores most of the time which is more efficient and saves battery life and only uses the high performance ones when needed.

        What is being compared here is a quad and octa-core CPUs of the same category, process tech and from same company. And not something from different tech and company. The SD801 you mentioned before are A15s while the 6592 is A7s (two different tech). They have completely different GPUs too.
        With regards to the MT6735 and 53, the story is different. I am telling you from my point of view as a seasoned computer technician. More cores definitely means much better and smoother overall performance and multitasking capabilities.
        You example above is like comparing the Intel core and AMD cores. We all know that the Intel cores surely beats their AMD counterparts when pitted against each other in single and multi-core performance. But our comparison here is AMD to AMD or Intel to Intel and not otherwise.
        The MT6753 definitely has better multi-core performance, scoring above 570 in single and 2600+ in multi while the 6735 (1.3GHz variant) is scoring 570+ and 1600+ in multi-core. With the 1.0GHz variant, its going to be lower ofc.
        And of course, the Apps and Android OS never uses single core.

        I never said it didnt have better performance but it is no where even close to being double the performance like he said. I have used both personally and the 53 is slightly faster but most people will never even notice the difference except if they play games. That is one area it is noticeable.

        Yes you are 100% right. It is only power users that will actually notice the difference in performance between the two. But considering that both has the same single core performance, most people wont know.
