Xiaomi’s refurbished phones will be sold via Amazon India

Online marketplace Amazon is offering refurbished Xiaomi phones in India. Along with Xiaomi, Samsung phones are being sold too.

A natural question that would arise in minds of prospective buyers would be warranty. However, according to Fone Arena, these devices come with over 6 months of warranty, so that should be sorted. Amazon also gives the assurance that despite the devices not being new and (and possibly) unused, the quality is not compromised on these refurbished devices.

Gizchina News of the week

Earlier, OnePlus too started selling its ‘unboxed’ OnePlus Ones in the country. Chinese OEMs including OnePlus and Xiaomi usually operate a margins much thinner than other mainstream brands, which is perhaps why the companies have to resort to offering refurbished devices. Make no mistake, selling refurbished devices isn’t something new, but the Indian market isn’t yet used to the concept. In this case also, Amazon says that the operation will be a pilot and depending on the success, future sales would be organized.

Apparently, Chinese brands see the Indian market like a good place to unload their undesired devices.

Not just Chinese brands, but everyone pretty much. I heard new-in-box S3’s and G2’s are still being sold and are very easy to find there.

Anyways selling refurbished goods isn’t new, it’s just new to India. Ultimately if the refurbished devices offer more of the precious “value for money” which they desire more than anything in the world then these units have a chance.

The big difference for me is I’d be comfortable and confident buying a Samsung device with only 6 months of warranty, but not so much if buying a Chinese brand.

I am more comfortable buy a refurbished Chinese brand than let’s say an HTC or Samsung.

Refurbished phones can just be as good as brand new and much cheaper.. Normally refurbished units have new housing so they look new.

I wouldn’t buy from them as they are a bunch of scammers with many of their phones having fake specs. I’m sure Gizchina doesn’t want to be associated with a company like that.

they are somehow unreliable for us regular customers but they wont toward such big popular staff..also nobody is asking visitors to buy fro them..what we are after is getting too many phone and especially zte (like nubia z9 or axon )or the latest lenovo phones or… which usually doesn’t get reviewd by gizchina to be tested for users..people can go buy from other sites but having gizchina writing its opinion abou nearly every devices will be useful for us,them and somehow fastcardtech too….
also we are not asking yash/andi/else to review hdc phones but ..brands and popular models….as they said, only one hint to fastcardtech is enough..so just one image from review by the logo of fastcardtech at bottom of the picture would do the job…nothing more…
dont you want to see, whether zte nubia z9/axon takes better photo or letv pro/max/mi5/zuk?? the gizchina can’t buy phone but this oppurtunity at least give them the chance to have refund and even selling those phones as 2nd hand at gizshop to make funds for running sites or …. and they could also use the phones for giveaways of contest or…

I’ve bought lots of refurbished products over the years, in fact my main flat screen tv was a refurb and it’s still going strong after 9 years! Refurbished doesn’t always mean it’s been used as there are many reasons why a product has been returned so they can represent excellent value on more expensive stuff.
