Third OnePlus device may launch in time for Christmas

If you have been keeping up with the all the OnePlus news then news of a second OnePlus device for the year won’t come as much of a surprise, but now we have a touch launch date.

Earlier in the year the OnePlus team had mentioned that we should expect an additional phone launch this year to accompany the OnePlus 2. As you would expect from the controversial company, details of the third OnePlus device (second for the year) are currently unknown except for the fact this device might not necessarily be a flagship and we could hopefully see the phone at the end of the year.

Gizchina News of the week

In an interview with USA Today, Carl Pei, mentioned that a launch date before Christmas could very well be a possibility.

So if the next OnePlus we see isn’t a flagship what will it be? Some fans have suggested that OnePlus might launch a low-end phone to compete with the Xiaomi Redmi 2A and Xiaomi m2. Another suggestion (and one we believe to be more accurate) is a phone designed to be a premium product using high-end materials and design, but not top of the range hardware (think something along the lines of the Oppo R7 and Vivo X5 Pro).

Are you excited about the next OnePlus device? Do you think it will be a low-end phone or mid-range premium handset?

I would like it to be high quality low-end device with a low price. If OnePlus can make high-end Two and sell it for a lower price than cempetitors, they also can make good device for about $100-$150, and since I only use basic applications, like e-mail, Viber, WhatsApp, Calls, Messages, this would be perfect for me.

Use same hardware as OP1 to save cost, only change chipset to fast and cheap MTK and boom! You have $150 beast. Same can go for OP2, as they already have tooling.

They should make 2s with NFC and fast charge capability. Drop the op2 price and sell the 2s with the same price. That’s what I would do if I was the CEO.

Probably why you are not a CEO you are too smart! We should start our own company! Andy please don’t steal this idea. Next thing he will ge releasing Gizphone A00001. ?

I think their brand strategy is going in all directions. I’m not sure if a low cost device is really what they need.

I don’t think there is a need to release a lower spec device cos too much competition out there unless OP can offer something unique or much more a value-for-money product.

Btw Carl Pei is wearing a blue Google Glass in that pic :O

If it’s not too confusing how about a slightly repackaged/upgraded One Plus One with all new race-to-the-bottom pricing and call it the One Plus One+?

Can somebody tell this guy Google Glass is not cool anymore? As is OnePlus, by the way.

Give me a 5 incher with similar specs and a slightly lower price and I might consider.
