The Huawei Mate 7 really marked a turning point for the Huawei range in terms of style and build. A new Mate 8 will have a hard act to follow, so what have Huawei come up with?
We love to see spy photos, especially when they show the replacement of a phone that did rather well in the market. Although I never owned one, the Huawei Mate 7 was one of my personal favorite phablets of last year. Sure it was a big device, but it was also beautifully made and looked stunning in the flesh.
Its been around a year since the Mate 7 launched and we have seen design and hardware aspects of the flagship phablet trickle down in to the Honor range of phones, what we need now is the Huawei Mate 8.
Luckily we have some spy photos to browse over that show a phablet that very well could be the Huawei Mate 8. Interestingly the Mate 8 seems physically identical to the Mate 7 with a gold finish, and rear fingerprint scanner, but the front seems to have much narrower screen bezels.
The spy sample it labeled up with generic branding, a trick we ave seen Huawei use in the past, and according to those with some hands on knowledge of the phone will ship with a 6-inch 2K display, 20.7 mega-pixel main camera and Kirin 950 chipset.
Pricing is expected to remain quite high for the premium device, and a launch earlier in September, possibly the 2nd of the month, is the time we might officially see the phone.
What do you think of 6-inch+ phones? Do you think we will see more of them as bezels shrink or is 5.5-inch more than enough?

Nice touch, that reminder on the back we are dealing with a mobile phone here.
