Cubot X15 is another MT6735 phone with a stylish design

It’s been raining MT6735 phones lately. The new Cubot X15 comes with the same CPU (thankfully NOT in the 1.0GHz MT6735P variant), but appears to have a decent build and a stylish design.

Many MT6735P phones, including the Oukitel U8 and the Doogee Y100 Pro, failed to impress, particularly when you take the price tag into consideration. The Cubot X15 isn’t a cheap phone too, but given that it comes with the non-underclocked version of the quad-core chipset, it should do a bit better.

Oh, and unlike the other phones mentioned here, the X15 does in fact come with a full HD 1920 x 1080p display through the 5.5-inch screen which should be respite for those with powerful eyes. Besides the FHD display, the Cubot X15 has 2GB RAM, 16GB ROM and is powered by Android 5.1 Lollipop.

Cubot claim to have a better than average camera set in a 16 mega-pixel rear with f/1.8 aperture, and an 8 mega-pixel front with an f/2.0 aperture. Oh, and the display too isn’t supposed to be your everyday 5.5-inch panel, but one sourced from top display maker JDI. The phone is priced US$166 on reseller store Everbuying, but coupon EBX15 brings it down to just US$147.

If its that phone shown there, then that design is utter crap. There’s a truckload of phones out there with that exact design. Including $13 phones.

First, I thought MT6735 only supports 720p. So, how come this one comes with a FHD display?
Second, MT6735 supports 13MP cameras … how come the 16MP or is that interpolated?
Third, Yash what exactly is so spectacular about the design of this phone to make you praise it so much?
I gotta say that I wont spend my hard earned money in buying any MT6735 phones at more than $110.

  Good points actually. Pretty sure the 16MP is interpolated, but I’ll have to check about the display. The listing either mentions a wrong CPU or the resolution.
  And about design, come on you gotta admit it’s better than other MT6735 phones. The other two MT6735 phones I reviewed turned out to be MT6735P ones, so I’m actually not hurrying into discarding this non underclocked version.

        Can’t say about the knock off feel, Cubot do make some sturdy phones. If there’s enough interest we’ll probably do a review.

        i ve saint mail to cubot they reply sauing that is 6735A proseccor that supports this specs i looked at the web but i dont find him

  X11 was interpolated, but it was part of their promotion – ‘improved’ IMX214.

X11 looked better and had more interesting features for me, but from early reviews the IMX214 16(13)mp installation was poor, despite claims they spent many months perfecting it. Possibly sorted now over OTA(?) and I rather go for that if so.

a 1080p display on the MT6735? That thing barely handles 720p, let alone 1080.
Pretty bad decision, GPU is too weak for that.

Problem is it only has dual SIM if you don’t opt for an SD Card. I would prefer both though…. Or at least a version with 32/64GB…

That’s way too much overpriced, UMI Rome offers a way more powerful
octacore cpu, 3gb ram and an amoled screen, allowing also to save 60$!
Who do they thing they are? Apple?

  Really looking forward to this product, I’ve also read that has metal finishing and a thickness which is less than 8mm… along with the great processor, ram and the amoled screen, it’s incredible how such a product can be offered for so low!
