Weibo tipster @Kjuma has managed to get photos of the packaging and a view of a working model of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 which he claims runs a Mediatek Helio X10 chip.
Xiaomi’s next phone launch looks like it will be the 2nd generation Xiaomi Redmi Note. The original Redmi Note has been around for a very long while now and we are all eager to see what the company have in store for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2.
Well if Weibo tipster @Kjuma is to be believed (and so far he is a good source) the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 will feature a metal body and Mediatek Helio X10 8 core chipset. The details come after the smartphone tipster posted an image of a working Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 and its packaging on Weibo.
From TENAA documents we also know the Redmi Note 2 will have 2GB RAM, 16GB internal memory, dual SIM support, a 5.5-inch FHD display, 13 mega-pixel rear camera, 5 mega-pixel from and MIUI based on Android 5.0.
It seems likely that Xiaomi will keep the cost of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 low too and we will probably see the phone launch in all international Xiaomi launch areas. Keep posted for more details of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2.
MX5 out, Redmi note 2 in. Let’s see the price
only $168 at there http://goo.gl/l3qUtM
I must say that the picture shows much wider bezels than suggested by the previously released renders. As usual.
Please put in an expadable storage option.
This is what I’ve been holding out for, as the 6752/53 SoC used in pretty much every mid range china-phone is too weak.
I just hope the 3G/4G frequencies are not limited to Chinese needs.
To weak for what ?
The 6752 is powerful enough for about 95% of what the Google Play has to offer. Only the most graphically demanding games will give it trouble, and even then they are still playable on lower settings.
the leaked price from phonearena was 177usd
Helio X10 would be awesome.
if its really less than 12K INR and with good camera and sold online in India,i can see bloodbath in the smart phone market…where Note 2 is slaying all..i mean X10 at budget???..wow,go mediatek go.
It could maybe be the first phone that has MT6755 chipset instead of the MT6795 chipset, MT6755 chipset is clocked at 2.0GHz (8x A53). But I guess if it is really the MT6795 chipset, price below 999 yuan seems unlikely. If that is really the case, then it would quite a bargain (if we believe those rumors about 699/799 yuan).
Last I heard the MT6755 won’t be available to 2016. Mediatek intends it to be next years budget/mid-range SoC replacing the 6752/53.
If it really does have X10 this could be a game changer in the midrange phone market.
Fingers crossed it has LTE band 20. Slim chance, though. ?
What about external memory, battery and Corning Gorilla glass protection? Low price should not keep these away and Android 5.1 should be the minimum at a competitive price.
