The OnePlus 2 is here in my hands and I am ready to answer any questions you might have about this “2016 Flagship” phone.
We posted a list of 5 stores you can buy the OnePlus 2 without invitation last week and the first OnePlus 2 phones are arriving with us now. Unlike other sites we have our hands on the Chinese version of the OnePlus 2 which has fewer LTE bands supported (but I can confirm is working on Vodafone LTE in Spain), but can be bought online from China now without a long wait and annoying invitation system.
I will post my first hands on and impressions of the OnePlus 2 shortly with video and photos, but now am opening the floor to you guys to put your questions forward about the OnePlus 2. So if there is anything you have been wanting to know about this phone here is your chance to ask!
I’ll answer questions as soon as possible so please be patient.
Why it’s so hot and throttle so bad.
SMASH IT !!!
Nah
Just a little 🙂
Review it like a normal phone without all the hype, curious how fast it charges with USB-C, if the new USB-C is worth it in daily use because of the lack of cables laying around, overall build quality compared to similar low cast flagships, battery quality, fingerprint reader compare.
I have USB type C on the LeTV Le 1 which I use daily (and find it hard to believe the OP2 will replace be good enough to replace it). USB Type C brings nothing to your phone expect the fact you have to remember to carry your Type C wire with you incase you run out of juice.
could I use the gravel like back cover to tarmac my drive? 🙂
No, but you could use it as a sandpaper to smooth your surfaces 😉
Does it feel as thick in the hand as it looks? How heavy does it feel compared to the One?
Nope, feels similar to the MX4 Pro
Letv or OP 2 ? Which one would you suggest?
OP 2 definitely. It is hotter then most phones but not hand burning like the s810 1.0v. The software is very clean and faster then the software of the letv one imo (short usage, so I can’t guarantee that he will be lots faster), the software is a great improvement compared to the OPO. It isn’t as buggy anymore 🙂 The 4 GB ram performs great in multitasking and every game does get +-60 fps. The battery is average, not so good as the battery of the OPO but still good to survive one day of heavy usage.
Having the LeTV Le 1 and OP2 in my hand I’m still more inclined to go for the LeTV. The Op2 seems laggy in comparison
This comment was when I was running Hydrogen OS
which camera its better letv 1 or one plus 2..sony vs onmivision and why 😀
They both produce great photos. The LeTV has the faster camera (snap and save speed)
OP2 with Oxygen is fast as well now
Will it blend, Andy?
How about the camera? Are the 50mp pics really as amazing as it sounds?
can you crush nuts with it?
yes, probably yours
how you know, did you try already on yours?
i do not have the money to buy one of them, plus it has no NFC, still waiting for the jiayu s3 to get an official update to 5.1, then I might try that one
why don’t you just buy a nutcracker at the dollar store for 1$? LoL
hope for you that Jiayu release that soon. they are not really famous for being on spot releasing updates.
you mean, by the time they release the next update it is so old that I can buy it for 1$
no, the cracking nut joke came from a funny advertisement of Ulefone to show how good their Be Touch 2 is
http://www.gizchina.com/2015/07/05/ulefone-shows-touch-2-can-also-crush-nuts/
then i turned serious again and i was wishing you good luck hoping Jiayu release their updates because in the past they haven’t been very prompt doing it. things might change though.
lot of questions:
heating problems solved?
throttling?
how’s the new rom?
how slow is the charging?
can you try charging it with a 2A charger to see if it works?
it will work with 2amp but they should gave bring vooc charging like opo since they are thy are.kore or less same company
I have heard from others the heating problems are partially solved. It still gets hot but not nearly as hot as the other SD810’s. Probably because of the thermal paste they used. If they cheaped out and used a generic thermal paste it will be a fireplace 4-6 months from now, if they use a good one it should be fine for a year or more.
The chassis really wicks the heat away. Even it it does get hot it cools quite fast
Well thats good then I have one on the way.
LOL…..this made my day. Feels good to be right!
You haven’t been right about anything yet. These are just initial hands on impressions. In depth testing still needs to be done.
I still think it’s an ugly phone and I have heard from others that it does get very warm when gaming.
ok, these are indeed initial impressions so i guess we’ll see what happens in the long term. But if u revisit what my initial argument was, then u’ll see i’m already right.
If that helps you sleep better at night…
Isn’t it sad when someone can’t admit that they’re wrong. But thats the internet for you
Haven’t been wrong yet but if it makes you feel better. Do make sure you read my impressions on the OnePlus Two in the forum. Specifically pay attention to the first two points.
Hmmm…home work? ok. It’ll give me a chance to visit the forums which i hardly do
So just read your review, and its very well written & balanced. Much better written than phone reviews in general i read elsewhere. Having an actual friend who is a One Plus fan, i dont know how you could mistake me for being one (well at least a fanboy).
However doesn’t the first point you made prove i was right lol, i mean maybe you misunderstood the point i was making
I just installed Oxygen OS and now the phone is much faster and smoother. Going to install some games on it and test it all out today. I believe fast charging is not possible, but the regular speed of charging is rather fast (need to run it down completely and time how long).
cool, thanks for the answers.
Be sure to load up one heavy game from Playstore and see how it handles heat dissipation..
Also looking for an in-depth camera shootout against the Le 1
Curious about the charging time
Finally, take your time..no need to rush the final review
I’m so confused with phones lately. I had 2 ONO’s but never got on with them. The Oppo 7 was better anyway.
And now i’m looking at phones again and need to replace my MX4 pro with the crazy flyme software I’ve grown tired of. I bought the P8, but it felt like a step down, they skimped on the GPU, and no dual band or a/c.
So now I can see the LeTV 1 which looks cool, but surely, the OP2 out specs it in every aspect.
Bleugh. I just want them all. I think I need to start reviewing phones.
If you didn’t get on with the OPO you won’t like the OP2. LeTV is still my choice
Firstly, why did you have 2 OPOs? (I guess that’s what you mean instead of ‘ONO’s’???) And secondly, why didn’t you get on with them?
Hi, sorry yes it was late in England when I wrote. I had both the Chinese and International variants. Purchased the Chinese one sans invite and when I did get my invite bought the international. The entire device as a whole was good, but I love my camera’s and despite my best efforts I couldn’t get on with the image quality. I was also disappointed when they decided not to sell back covers, so I sold it. I moved to a moto x 2014 which again hasn’t got a very good camera, and now the new moto is 5.7″ I can’t manage a phone bigger than 5.5 thanks to my small hands. So i’m stuck for my next device. I’m currently using an MX4 pro in the meantime and it’s a bit buggy for my liking, plus they annoy me with the whole international signed roms, because mine is a chinese varient. I also don’t just want to be just another guy with an S6. I don’t want to get the LeTV and then be disappointed in a months time, plus I feel like the OP2 will have better support for English.
Bleugh!
What about lg g4? it has a good camera too. Then there is also ZTE z9.
I dont have money to buy a LG G4, but there is a good promotion on my country and it is $330. I have sold my HTC One M8 because I dont want to stick with just one phone.
What do you say?
I say what I say 🙂
How is the camera?
took it for a spin last night. Camera is pretty good, just not as fast as the LetV although the quality of photos is good.
wow, it looks like LeTV did a great phone for only 1499 cny
Now I’m on Oxygen OS on the OP2 it is getting better 🙂
looking forward to know who’s gonna win the race 😀
did you test the gps? is the OIS significantly different than the digital?
do you think the lack of NFC (on both actually leTV and OP2) is a turn off (google pay/ future proofing)?
cheers,
Gyuri
GPS I didn’t test yet, the camera is good, but I don’t see that it is any better than the cheaper LeTV. I never use NFC so personally not at this time, it all depends how well adopted Google Pay is.
Thanks Andi, the leTV is very attractive indeed just cautious of their OS and g-p support. did you test the gps on that?
I really hope that u will get the snapdragons LeTv to see if they are good as MTK Le1.
HI Andi , please compare camera perfomance and audio output on headphones perfomance wid mx5 and letv le 1. please
will do
Compare this to a lets say Lenovo K3 Note, which would be the pros and cons? 🙂
not used the K3 so cannot comment
Oxygen firmware enables also international LTE bands like the b20 (800Mhz) missing in the chinese specs?
Hi I m from India & want to ask one simple question which 1 is better 1+2 or zuk z1? If not much difference in performance I don’t mind 801 chipset also used on z1…..is their any other mobile which can be a real flagship killer in this price range??
Andi, there are rumours that the CPU disabled two cores under load. is this true?
I just have one question, can I unlock more Lte bands on the US variant on the OP2?
I need band 3
Hi, I have received the OP2 from China and the market is in chinese. How can I get Play store?
