IUNI N1 budget phone news slips as IUNI U3 price gets cut again

Over in China IUNI just cut the price of the IUNI U3 with 2K display to just 1199 Yuan, as details of a new budget phone emerges.

IUNI have had 2 flagship phones launch in the past year and both are now available at cheap as chips prices. The original IUNI U2 with amazing 16 mega-pixel camera and all alloy body is not only 799 Yuan where as the Snapdragon 801 equipped, 2K IUNI U3 can now be bought for as little as 1199 Yuan.

These prices are insanely low, and might be measures to pave the way for a new path for the Gionee sub brand. So far the 2 IUNI flagships haven’t really taken off in the way IUNI had hoped, and it has now been rumoured that the company will now focus on budget devices instead.

The first budget IUNI might well be the IUNI N1, a phone we spotted in TENAA a few months back with dual front and rear cameras and a rather dated design. The IUNI N1 has just a 5-inch HD display, 2GB RAM, 16GB memory and Mediatek MT6735 running at 1.3Ghz. Those are very budget minded specifications compared to the companies previous phones.

I wonder if they’ll drop the U3 to 999RMB during the 11th Nov Taobao event. Also the lesser known i1 likely using the same OV13860 sensor as the Oneplus 2, if the price dropped to 1299 RMB might be worth a look too 🙂

Tried to buy a U3 on their website but no English option. Had to make an account with them but don’t know how to. Even Google Chrome translate was not working.

Why budget device? I was looking forward to IUNI U4. Gionee makes stupidly expensive phones hence the introduction of a good yet pocket friendly sub-brand. I guess this is where i close my eyes to any news from Gionee/IUNI.

I have the U3 and it is a good phone, and now for the price, it is even better. The rom is simple but nice, only updates are slow and the last one has been removed because too buggy (I would like a better video recording for example). I have flashed with Miui on but still, I like IuniOS and consider switching back. Another thing is that accessories for the U3 are too few, for example the screen protection film is out of order for many months now…

Indeed, great price for China, but the international resellers are late to lower their prices 🙁
I just checked on 1949deal.com, the Iuni U3 price goes to $217.99 with coupon 1949deal2013 .
I will wait and see whether the price will go to the $200 limit 🙂

There’s hardly any software support for IUNI devices and Gionee is surprised it didn’t trigger?
