Blackview Alife P1 Pro packaging doubles as Google Cardboard

Blackview are shipping their latest Blackview Alife P1 Pro mobile phone in packaging that has been pre-converted to Google Cardboard goggles.

Google’s budget VR viewing spectacles, or as they are more commonly known “Google Cardboard” are a great low-tech invention that can turn any Android smartphone in to a VR headset (when used with the correct applications).

The idea is a novel one and was even used for the launch of the OnePlus 2 which allowed people from around the world to view the launch event in their own homes while feeling up close and personal.

Google Cardboard headsets can be made or even bought as cheaply as $5 online, but Chinese phone maker Blackview have been ingenious enough to convert the packaging of their latest Android smartphone in to a pre-made Cardboard VR viewer.

This is a very clever piece of marketing/recycling! It is one of those ideas will likely take off and see other manufactures go down the same route, but so far Blackview are one of the first.

Blackview will begin shipping the Alife P1 Pro on the 13th August. If you haven’t already bought one you can pick one up on Aliexpress or Everbuying.

    New Alife P1 Pro is even slower than my 4 years old Galaxy S3
    https://vid.me/HLNz
    Skip to 2:00 to see the slowness.
    All other phone sent to reviewer most probably having higher spec (MT6735) compared to the one sold to consumer (MT6735M).
    It also overheats very much::::
