Xiaomi’s Redmi (erstwhile Hongmi) series has played an instrumental role in bringing smartphone prices down since the last 2 years or so.
The Redmi Note has been around for quite a while now, and a replacement/update has been long overdue. The next — Redmi Note 2 — is expected to launch tomorrow alongside MIUI 7 in China, where we’ll get to know about the ins and outs of the phone. However, thanks to a fresh new leak there’s some info about the device to be had.
The Redmi Note 2 has allegedly leaked in its flesh while getting some hands on treatment. The design of the phone shows what looks like a stretched Mi 4i more than a redesigned Redmi Note. Screen size will still be 5.5-inches akin to the first-gen Redmi Note, but it’s the insides which matter and which will get a refresh.
Gizchina News of the week
Chinese outlets believe that the processor beneath the 5.5-inch full HD panel of the Redmi Note 2 will be the very impressive MT6795 or the Helio X10. To put things into perspective, Meizu’s flagship MX5 features the same processor.
That’s not it, sources allege that there’ll also be a 3GB RAM variant of the Redmi Note 2, naturally priced higher. With these specifications, the Redmi Note 2 might just bother its own sibling in the Mi Note.
If Xiaomi somehow manage to keep the 2GB RAM Redmi Note 2 to 799 Yuan, it’ll shatter markets beyond just China. Knowing Xiaomi, that is very well possible. The 3GB RAM version, on the other hand, could sit at a pretty 999 Yuan, in that case.
