What’s the difference between the 2? Is it just internal storage (16gb / 32gb)??? As it has a memory card slot doesn’t it..?

        Standard: 2/16GB | X10 @ 2Ghz | Micro-SD
        Prime: 2/32GB | X10 Turbo @ 2,2Ghz | Micro-SD

That’s it?? You won’t be able to tell difference from that extra .2 gHz. Just by a bigger SD card and save yourself some money if that is all that is different.

If I had to guess it will be around $200 on resellers maybe even closer to $225. For that price you can buy the base version and a 32-64GB SD Card and still have money left over for headphones and a case.

For the Chinese price it isn’t a bad deal for only about 15US more but with resellers its easily going to be anywhere from 25-50US more. You can buy a 32GB SD Card for as little as $10 on Amazon. And even though they say 32 is the max size, a lot of phones will accept more.

Thank you both for your replies, I never had a smartphone before and when I see the price of the Redmi 2 Note comparing the phones mentioned above the price difference is not that huge and the performances would be at 500% better compared to budget phones. My problem is that 5,5 inch is too much (76mm width for the Redmi 2 Note). The only worthy option for a 5inch phone in the market is the Xiaomi MI4 Wcdma White version but I hate the white color. I refused to get the MI3 because of its design (too large). Bluboo Xtouch looks amazing on the paper but it will be sold above $300+. I was hoping that Xiaomi would replace Xiaomi Mi4i’s CPU using a Mediatek 6752 or Snapdragon 808. It would been a killer phone worldwide. I was expecting a new Redmi 3 or 2s but apparently I dream a lot LOL. I am hesitating between the Redmi 2 Pro and Meizu M2, the Meizu has better specs compared the Redmi 2 Pro but MIUI looks a lot better. For casual gaming both might be ok (FIFA 15). Cheers!

Flyme and MIUI are both so incredibly customizable (like all of Android) that you can get either of them to look just the way you want. Both have hundreds of themes available to download too, even ones that look like the other.

            • Mustafa
              August 14, 2015

              August 15, 2015

I have used MIUI extensively and have owned multiple Xiaomi phones (more recently Mi4), my current phone is a Meizu MX5. I honestly love them both, MIUI is probably my overall favorite but Flyme is pretty close behind and it runs a little faster than MIUI as it is not as resource heavy. If I had to chose between the Redmi 2 and M2, I would probably go M2 because I think it looks better.

Thanks balco, I am thinking to get the Redmi Note 2 even if 5.5 inch is too big for me. It is been a while that I am waiting for a compact phone with pretty decent specs at $220 max. The Xiaomi Mi4i was the one but its CPU has heating issues. Then I heard some news that a new edition of the Mi4i with a Snapdragon 808 will be released soon but at the moment nothing is confirmed. I am like I should probably try the Redmi Note 2 and probably by using the phone daily I will adopt the phone’s size. Cheers!

I just can’t see Xiaomi releasing an 808 powered Mi4i, it would be too close performance wise to the next Mi5.

            • Mustafa
              August 16, 2015

True, I think that you are right Xiaomi has a deal with Qualcomm and I think that they can’t change easily Xiaomi Mi4i’s CPU using another processor. I think that Xiaomi have to release a Mi4A if they really want to offer the Helio X10 instead of Snapdragon 615 2nd generation. I really doubt that they planned this move in the future cos they are actively working on the MI5 right now with MiPad 2. I would love to wait for the MI5 which I am sure will be a killer flagship taking into consideration their recent move for the Redmi Note 2 but I think the pricing for the MI5 will be around $380 including shipping costs. I am still wondering if I should get the Redmi Note 2, just waiting for some reviews before to decide.

              August 16, 2015

Qualcomm actually invested in Xiaomi a few years back and since then Xiaomi has almost exclusively used Qualcomm SoC’s in their Mi phones. It was reported a while back that Xiaomi is actually Qualcomm’s biggest customer, in this industry that usually means they will get a better deal than other companies because of how much they buy.

Word, that being said do you miss the Mi4? Do you like your Meizu MX5? Apparently Meizu locked the bootloader on the Meizu M2 (not possible to install stock rom or CM) so I will give up on it.

The Mi4 was one of my favorite phones but I do not miss it. The MX5 was my first ever Meizu and I love it. One of the reasons I love it is because of Flyme, just like MIUI was the main reason I loved Xiaomi. For me these are two of the only brands where I never even think about changing the UI.

if it wasn’t for the bad SoC then the MI4i would have been the perfect phone for you (and for many others)

back in the past Xiaomi made the HongMI 1 (then Redmi) with a MT6589T (if i remember it correctly) and then they made the variant (RedMI 1S) with SD400 which was much better and with a better GPS.

They sold those phones like cupcakes!

Now, if they are smart, they should make a MI4i with Helio X10
and they would sell like crazy.

            August 16, 2015

Obviously Helios X10 is more powerful but not everyone needs that much power. For people who only use their phones for Facebook, Twitter, pictures and light gaming (candy crush) the 6735 is more than enough. People shouldn’t ignore great phones because other phones are more powerful, especially if they will never use all that power. Just like there are V8 engines that are more powerful than an inline 4 but if your not going to use that power it’s a waste.

You pay for the brand name, the quality is available in just about every car these days. Even the Korean’s have excellent quality in some of their cars. I think Mercs are the most hideous designs available. For me its Volvo all the way (and before they went out of business I was a Saab fan). The Ghibli is very close but needs a bit more refinement. I love the exterior styling, but the interior (especially the seats) is not what I expect from Maserati. It’s nice but it feels more like a $40,000 upscale Chrysler than a $70,000 Italian luxury sedan.

Even for $209 it is a great value for the money taking into account the specs of the device. I am not working for Gizchina but like every shop they do have a business model, they need like everyone to make money to survive. Do not think they buy devices at cheap prices like advertised in China, they are for sure paying a premium adding to that different costs/taxes the price is rising. Cheers!

When buy in Large Q, the taxes are – – !
So when u said that 209$ for the Prime is great value……it just show’$ how inexperienced u are. No offence here but u don’t know the Real price of devices.
After OnePlus ONE, now Xiaomi has made the step of presenting The Real Price of device Note 2. Understand ?!
        It is produce/add 20% income/sell…… And Not produce/add 60% income/$ell to idiots….m.

As this device will wipe out the existence of many, many firms.

If the real cost is $139 you really think that will be the price on resellers? How they will survive?

Idiots? Have you ever heard about supply and demand in your life? Margin profit? Risk premium? You should take some courses about how to rule a business and you will understand that you are wrong when reading again the comments you posted just above. Keep hope alive!

I think your best bet is to buy a plane ticket for china in order to buy the Redmi 2 Note at China price then you would be happy in your life. Do not forget it will cost you an arm to buy flying tickets.

Why is it that your specs mention the phone features only 1080p video recording. Thought that the Helio X20 was capable of 4K ? And What happened to the Mediatek Helio X10 120/480p slow motion feature ?

so, let me get this strait…you are selling the phone from the China warehouse, but with a 40$+ mark-up and then adding delivery costs? how much will you sell it from the EU warehouse, 200$? Keep this strategy up and you will not last for long, I have to say I was expecting more from you guys…
