Next LG Nexus spotted, could be a OP2 killer

There is a lot of speculation surrounding this year’s Nexus phones, but it seems there will be at least 2 to choose from and the LG model could see a return to low pricing for the Nexus range.

Back when LG and Google released the Nexus 5 the world finally saw a phone with premium hardware at a price we could all agree on, but with the arrival of the Nexus 6 from Motorola the world turned to OnePlus to get their premium/low-cost fix.

For 2015 it is rumoured that there will be two Nexus phones, a model from Chinese phone maker Huawei with a premium price and premium specification and a second lower-cost phone from LG.

Above is a leaked photo of what is believed to be the plastic bodied 2015 LG Nexus with a rear facing fingerprint scanner, bulged camera and laser autofocus. The size of the phone appears to be around 5.2-inch which meets previous speculation about the LG phone.

Insiders say the new LG Nexus might come with USB Type C, and a Snapdragon 808 chipset. If the phone has a 1080 display and 3-4GB RAM the entry-level Google phone might be enough to upset the release of the OnePlus 2.

The new range of Nexus phone are expected to launch during the release of Android M, so watch this space for more news.

  Exactly, people keep banging on about the OP2 flagship killer, when its nothing more than an average higher midrange phone at best. The only phone it kills is itself with the joke invite system!

This looks promising. September release would be perfect but I’m guessing it’ll be October again. Not sure if I can wait that long. Hopefully the price will be good though. Also doesn’t look like the back cover will be removable which decreases the chance of an SD-slot.

  Nexus never had an SD slot. I’m afraid it will be missing here too. In that case I’ll get a Chinese phone or a Motorola.

    Ah I thought the older Nexus devices had an SD-slot. Well as long as it packs 32GB I’m ok with it. 16GB won’t be enough for my needs.

      Phone makers should really make 32GB as a standard. We’re not in 2010 anymore, where price difference between 16/32GB was $100 or so.

If the pricing is right, I may consider replacing the Oneplus One with it. 5.5″ turned out to be too big for me and I miss fingerprint sensor.

The real flagship killer is the $125 Xiaomi Redmi Note 2. It is the one phone that will actually take a way sales of flagship phones.

    The only thing that comes close is the Lenovo K3 Note which is still more expensive with slightly worse specs.

  I really try Balco but I don’t get it, do you think I would fall into the same traps when I finish setting up my company? As in no vision and absolute miscalculation of the obvious? I shudder to think.

      Right pay attention !! 🙂 . I was putting myself in the shoes of these manufacturers and wondering how they can get a phone soo wrong from pricing to hardware. They always allow Xiaomi to pave the way when it is not rocket science! My question was, I will more or less start some manufacturing at some point, do you think I will fall victim to such practices if I were at the other side of the coin? I just don’t get some obvious no nos that I see.
      Sorry about earlier, you do not live up to your legend. Legend had it you read minds and know the answer to any Gizchina question before they were asked 🙂

        Haha sorry hadn’t had my morning coffee yet before reading that now it makes sense.
        I work in marketing in Asia and I am often left speechless at some of the decisions these companies make. My company specializes in two things: marketing bad product ideas (I can sell just about anything to the right audience) and cleaning up PR messes. You will be okay if you just use common sense and follow the industry trends. I always advice my clients before you start any marketing plan ask someone with no knowledge of business if it makes sense. Those are the people who are buying your products and if it doesn’t make sense to them it’s not a good idea.
        As for Xiaomi, the Redmi Note 2 is a very good phone. Having said that the only thing really sets it apart from other midrange phones is the Helios X10 and the camera set up (PDAF). Xiaomi is able to do this for two reason, they have the buying power as they produce 10X as many phones as most companies. And more importantly they price their phones near cost and hope to make it up with long term sales. Most companies make 90% of their profit on a model from the initial release. Xiaomi and Oneplus do the opposite.

Why is the Nexus 6 being updated this year, if it only came out last year. As opposed to a refreshed Nexus 5 after 2 years ?
Therefore when is the 3rd Generation of each likely to be laynched ?

  Google actually wanted the nexus 6 as a replacement for nexus 5, but they wanted to target a limited users with 6’s high price. To their utter surprise, even most of the limited users did not buy nexus 6 but rather went for something else, like OPO, Samsung S5/S6 and most Chinese ones. So this year they are bringing a true replacement for old nexus 5, without making any mistake from last year, and to restart the market grabbing plan from Apple , which initially they planned using nexus 6 but failed, they are now brining new from huawei too. But I feel huawei will fail, if this new LG comes too, and it will be December, the release date of android M.

I would buy it because it is a Nexus, be the first that test all those bugs with latest update… Hell yeah….
